Costa Rica vs. Jamaica?

Future Mrs. Cwik, on December 23, 2019 at 11:40 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 4
Hey everyone! My future in laws are giving us an all inclusive resort package that they bought a while back. They are super sweet to give us this! We have narrowed it down to Costa Rica or Jamaica. Have you been to either of them? Do you have any pros/cons for either? Bonus points if you’ve been to both and can tell me why you liked one more than the other!

Thanks in advance and happy holidays!!tenor.gif

I have been to Costa Rica plenty of times. The people are super nice and the food is simple but delicious. If you decide to venture off from the resort depending on which city you're staying in there's tons of Nature and you can probably even take day trips to go see volcanoes or rainforest or something such as that. I really like Costa Rica but I've never been to Jamaica. The only kind I can say is that it is Latin America so outside of the resort things might not be as tidy as maybe back in the States but we have some dirty cities as well. The people have always been super friendly but just like any place you go to even in the United States just always be mindful of your belongings and things like that. Otherwise I have always felt safe.

I went to Costa Rica earlier this year for my birthday and it was so much fun! We stayed in AirBnBs and did a lot of outdoorsy things (hiking, nature walks, animal sanctuaries, zip lining, etc) and it was a lot of fun! As Kristen said, the people are super friendly and the food was so delicious. I can't provide any insight on resorts in CR but I imagine they are beautiful. My personal opinion is that Costa Rica is less of a tourist destination than Jamaica so it does feel a bit less contrived, which is important to me personally. I know people love Jamaica though, so I'm sure they are both wonderful choices.

I’ve never been to Jamaica but I have been to Costa Rica and it is absolutely beautiful. We did not stay in a resort so I can’t comment on that but it was honestly the best time of my life. We stayed in the Mal Pais/ Santa Theresa area and there was so much to do, beautiful beaches, amazing food and tons of excursions we did ATV tours, went zip lining, surfing.. The whole 9 yards... Life is simple there and the locals were very nice, many people there spoke English which was helpful for us. We never felt unsafe or unwelcome but just like anywhere just always be aware of your surroundings and travel light, our tour guide told us theft is the biggest concern for tourists but we never had any issues and we will 100000% go back in the future
