Cost of makeup for bridesmaids

AmyG, on January 24, 2020 at 1:33 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6

Hello! I've booked my preferred makeup artist for my wedding day, and I want all of my bridesmaids to get their makeup done by her. That being said, I want to cover the some of the cost of their makeup. I was considering just covering the base cost of their makeup ($50), and that does not include fake eyelashes ($10 extra for those) or the 20% gratuity ($10 on $50 & $12 with eyelashes added).

What are your thoughts on telling them that I will cover the base cost, but if they'd like the fake-lash upgrade, they will need to pay for it, and that they need to cover the gratuity?

If you're requiring that they get their makeup done, you should pay for the whole amount, whether you decide on false lashes or not. If you're not requiring that their makeup be done professionally, you can give them the option to pay for it themselves.

I think if you are going to pay for it, you should just pay for the entire tab. I'm not requiring my ladies get their makeup done, but when talking about the option of hair and makeup they were all excited to do both. So, I'm going to spring for it and treat them. I just think it might get confusing when it comes to payment and figuring all that out if costs are getting split different amongst everyone. I can tell you that none of my ladies wanted the faux eyelashes... although they aren't ladies who get super made up usually so this could vary depending on the group.

Since you are requiring them to have their makeup done professionally you should cover the entire bill not just a part of it.

I'd make it optional for them. Something like "hey! I'll cover the $50 cost for makeup, but if you want fake lashes ($10) and to tip them (whatever you want), please bring that in cash on the day of. Makeup is optional, let me know if you want it done professionally!"
