Cost of byo alcohol

M, on May 15, 2018 at 7:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

We are having a backyard wedding so we have to supply all of the alcohol. We are doing a full open bar - beer, wine, cider & different liquors.

Have any of you bought all the alcohol for your wedding? How much was the alcohol by itself (not including bartenders or anything else)? I know it's very different and depends on how much/how many people but I'm just looking for a rough idea of what people spent so I can budget it in.

There have been a few posts about this that have helped me a lot! So search the forums and see if you see anything. Also, I was in a big liquor store the other day and one of the employees told me that they would help me figure out what to get, how much to get, and how much it would cost.

But I will say I'm budgeting around $800 for 100 drinkers - the only liquor we're having is a signature drink. I also live in DE, so no sales tax to budget in.

We spent about $400 in alchohol for 65 drinkers. If you use the search function you’ll find other posts that I’ve posted the break down.

Oh wow. See this is why it's weird for me because I live in Australia and our alcohol prices are WAY more expensive.

I think my sister spent almost $3000 for 120 people....

I'm hoping that this will be the only place I will actually save money at our wedding haha.

I think it also depends on the kind of alcohol! Specifically wine. You could easily spend a TON of money on wine if you're buying $25 bottles. We are NOT doing that. Lol. We aren't serving wine we wouldn't drink ourselves, but we found some low-cost brands we really like.

Yeah I am not a wine drinker myself so I will have some other people choose that for me. Def not buying $25 bottles though!

We are only having 40ish people (but being Australian I will budget for almost double haha) and by the looks it may cost way less than we thought.

I dont remember the exact budget, but at my backyard wedding im having beer and wine coolers only, and 121 guests who could drink. We ordered beer so far, 480 bottles. We over did it, but both families are drinkers

    Wow that's really good.

If I can get away with my alcohol costing $700 I will be one happy bride!

Not a wedding, but we bought alcohol for a graduation party for 50 people and spent around $400. We got lower end products though.

Our venue is byob, but we're only doing beer and wine. We haven't bought the alcohol yet, but we've budgeted about $1,000 for total cost not including bartenders. We're hoping to keep it under that, but making it a large number just in case. We should have about 250 guests and I believe we can get more beer and wine than we need for that amount.

$1000 for 250 people! That's so good. We are having 40 people max so hopefully we can keep the cost of drinks pretty low.

Yes, this! Highly recommend Costco AND you don't have to be a member to buy alcohol Smiley smile

If my math was correct, that’s what it should be give or take! Hoping and praying it’s only that! 30 cases of beer would be about $660 and about 15-20 bottles of wine would be about $400. Going the cheaper route for sure.
