Hello! Curious if anyone has experience getting catering quotes for receptions. We're looking at a Northwest FL wedding location (Fort Walton / Destin area) and are currently getting quotes of $150+ Per Person for food alone. I just got a recent catering quote for $50-$75 PP but that still seems a bit high compared to other people I've heard only paying $20-$40 PP for wedding food - but that was before covid & inflation.

We live in Nashville and the quotes are roughly the same. Both are popular areas for weddings - but are these quotes high? Is this inflation driving the price or is it location based pricing?

I would love to hear anyone else's quotes/experiences for reception food/catering! We're planning for a 100-125 guest count wedding.

That sounds about right. We are getting married in California and I looked for reception venues and the cheapest was $75 PP. We were lucky to find a venue and hire our own Cater for 50 people costing us $650.

I can't talk for US pricing but I do think its worth noting that pricing can also be a discussion.

We were able to talk with both our venue and celebrant about our budget and they were both able to reduce their prices a bit. In fact my venue reduced their catering price by almost 50%

I'm sure that some popular venues/whatever wouldn't be willing to budge, but I always think that it never hurts to ask!

We paid $150 pp for a three course plated meal. When anyone hears wedding the prices are always higher than if you were planning a birthday or retirement party.

We chose a hotel venue because a lot comes with the per person cost than any other venue we looked at. $90/person (includes buffet-food, 2hr open bar, 3 appetizers, our wedding night suite, etc) The hotel option gave us the most bang for our buck. We’ll probably fall around 120 ppl.

    Hello,

My daughter is getting married in Napa in August 2025. May I ask what caterer you used for your wine country wedding?

    Thank you,

    Ellen

The most recent response is 2 years old and no longer part of the forum. You are better making a new post for current information. Browse Yelp for the area and also look into restaurant drop off catering which is better quality and more food at a lower price
