Coronovirus

Nicole, on March 9, 2020 at 4:49 PM Posted in Planning 1 22
Definitely don't want to create any panic but is anyone running into issues with venues cancelling large event gatherings (ie: weddings) due to the coronovirus? I surely hope not but didnt know if I needed a contingency plan just in case. (Ugh that stresses me out just thinking about it!)

I have not heard of any venues closing yet, but I would be fully prepared for that to happen. Not to stress you out of course, but it is always to be safe rather than sorry. Truth is, we have no idea how bad it might get!! I would talk with someone from your venue and see if they have any plans or refunds, etc for cancellations of that nature. Best of luck!

Your wedding is several months away still. I would try not to worry about it right now.

No venue cancellations on the thread here that I see. I am finding a lot of change in travel plans from guests and I am having to reconsider my honeymoon cruise. But my wedding is next month so it's a more pressing issue right now!

The only thing I’ve heard of is San Francisco cancelling events at city owned locations for the next 2 weeks. So if for example your wedding was scheduled at San Francisco city hall this weekend that would pose a problem. But other than that I haven’t heard of wedding venues closing.

My work cancelled all travel and large meetings over 10 people. I'm crossing my fingers for all spring brides that this won't mess anything up!!!

Yeah, my anxiety is off the charts. But I'm hoping we can stay the course and get through this. It will definitely be a story to tell!

I would be lying if I said we weren’t sweating it out over here. Two weeks until our wedding and Florida just decorated a state of emergency. 😓 But so far everything is proceeding as planned and there have been no cancellations so far.

My venue hasn’t been the issue. My wedding is in 20 days and our honeymoon was a cruise. Most of my guests were coming from out of state (or another country) and the majority of them have canceled in the past 24 hours. Even my dad and brother won’t be able to make it.. It was too late to reduce the guest count for my venders, so we are paying for everyone regardless.

I’m heartbroken, but you know what... On March 29th, I am marrying the love of my life, even if we have to do it in our backyard with only the birds as witnesses. Our honeymoon is now sitting on our porch. We will make the best of it. I was really looking forward to it, but in the end, it’s the love we have for each other that matters, everything else is a fancy party.

I’m not going to let a pandemic ruin my happily ever after.

My wedding is a destination wedding in the Caribbean and almost all of my family and friends are coming from Maryland, which just declared a state of emergency, with layovers in Florida, also in a state of emergency. Also, my MOH is an elementary school teacher (gets exposed to allllll the germs). So far no one has cancelled, but I am on pins and needles...

Where in Florida are you? I'm right outside of Tallahassee and I haven't heard anything yet either.

Getting married in April in Jamaica. My relatives from Korea now won’t be able to join due to the travel restrictions. Also my elderly grandmother now probably should not travel. Considering what it would look like to reschedule or cancel the wedding if the US goes into lockdown like Italy or China... 😩

If it helps your MOH should be good from the coronavirus. Kids aren’t effected by it. So there’s that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

No issue with the venue, but big issues with my out of town/out of country guests.

I just found out that my ringbearer will not be attending. And we have a lot of other guests rescinding their RSVPs. I'm really upset but it's not like people asked for this to happen. I will and am mad however that I had to reach out to them after hearing they aren't coming through the family grapevine.

I’m in Maryland. 6 reported cases. I’m an elementary teacher as well. Honestly, Governor said he only declared state of emergency to make emergency funds/resources available and said it was out of an “abundance of caution”. All cases here are linked to overseas travel and no reported community to community spread (yet).

We live in MD and are getting married on 4/4 in Aruba. Most guests are coming from NYC/DC / MD/Utah . It’s really crazy because my numbers have actually shot you from 30 to nearly 60 guests in the past two weeks (wedding registration deadline was in January!) I think ppl want to get away from the US right now and aruba only announced two cases of COVId19 today. Hopefully nobody canceled after doubling the cost of our reception and ceremony at the last minute. I’d be posed. My worst fear is that The US bans all overseas travel, but in that case we’d just move it to June and i suspect the airlines and hotels would accommodate us if we have enough heads up! I don’t think that’s likely given the administration’s focus on the economy, but we picked out a June date just in case... our wedding planner says we really need to know what’s going on by 3/21, but I’m not sure what things will look like by then...
