Coronavirus, wedding activities and my wedding.

Alicia, on March 13, 2020 at 1:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
I'm so worried about what will happen with my wedding and related activities. My wedding is 6/20/20, bachelorette party planned from New York to Miami on 04/03/20 and bridal shower 05/30/20.

So far my bridal party and I agreeded to keep an eye on what's happening as we would all have to travel by plane to get to Miami. Two of my bridesmaids have babies under a year old. I told them that I wouldn't dear let them risk their health which would compromise the health of their babies. We were all very much looking forward to the trip. I'm sad this virus may rob me having a true bachelorette experience.
I'm meeting with my venue Sunday at which time I will inquirie about possibly canceling my wedding and what funds we might get back. Even if tbe venue doesn't cancel I have a lot of people wbo would be flying from accross the country to attend. I think rhe pandemic may effect attendance then we would've paid for a lot of seats that wouldn't get filled, as 100 people is the minimum number of guest for my venue.
Any other brides feeling this anxiety? How have you tried to Cope/adjust plans?

I think it’s a good idea to ask your venue about contingency plans or what your options would be.

Many people will reply and tell you everything will be fine. The truth is nobody really knows. Here’s what I would do in your position:

    Cancel your bachelorette party.
Ask your venue to lower the minimum headcount for your wedding as an act of good faith in the setting of an epidemic and be clear with them that if they do not accommodate this, you may need to cancel.
Hold your venue meeting by Skype and stay home.

I think at this point I wouldn't make any changes to your wedding day. June is still a ways away and things can change as quickly as they began. Give it another month before you even begin to think about postponing the wedding.

However, I would definitely cancel your bachelorette party. Mine is in Vegas in May (we are coming from Toronto)- and I am 80% sure we will be cancelling as well. For me, I feel like the wedding/honeymoon is a way bigger worry that at this point I don't even care if the bachelorette is canceled! Sure it would be a total blast but in the grand scheme of all the events it's lowest priority for me.
    best to you!

Definitely puts things in perspective. We're supposed to honeymoon in Greece the Monday following our wedding. I'm still trying to remain optimistic.

Good luck with all of your plans!

I meet with my venue tomorrow which was already scheduled before this pandemic. I'm going to inquire about my options. Honestly if I can get our monry back from majority of our vendors. I'll take it and save it and go to the court house at this point in my grand dress. This whole process of planning these things for 2 years, I've lost friends (probably for the best), sleep, time, money, I'm just about over it. But I will see what my fiance wants to do.
