Corona Virus worries

My wedding date is May 30th with a bridal shower date of March 29th. Our Illinois governor is not allowing gatherings of over 50 people for eight weeks which puts us in the middle of May with an uncertainty of how long it’ll last. My venue is already considering canceling the bridal shower despite it being less than 50 people. She has however offered to return the money as well. I’m completely over all this stress and the photographer has also offered to fully refund us. Most places are booked awhile in advance and I would like to be married this year. We are considering going down to the beach and getting married in early August if possible. The only thing that has been sent out is my save the dates. At what point do I need to officially decide to cancel ? And if we are doing the beach wedding instead would it be wrong of me to still have the bridal shower? I would still like to spend this time and enjoy our engagement with our close family here, but I also don’t want to make anyone upset.

I would cancel the shower. At this point every place is shutting down and social distancing is being urged more and more. It sucks but it’s necessary at this point if we want the curve to be flattened

I agree with this. Limiting social contact now will help with containing the virus so that hopefully by May you can continue with the wedding as planned.
