Corona Virus Concerns later in the year

Cherthelove, on March 19, 2020 at 12:59 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

Hi Friends,

How are you all doing? In the midst of wedding planning and wondering if I should hold off from sending our Save the Dates even though we are getting married in October. I understand the people getting married now canceling events but for those of us getting married later in the year how are you feeling? The tricky part is we're all just watching what will happen day by day with no sound clue what the next three months will look like.

Same. We sent STD's earlier. But even though the plan is to send them in June I feel weird even thinking about or doing it. Same with my bridal shower that is in June.

We sent our save the dates out about two weeks ago and now I’m so nervous about what will happen in the next few months!
We’re currently continuing with everything as planned and if things are still crazy come August, we’re going to postpone another year. We’re really trying to hold out hope for all of it to pass by though!

We are getting married in October, too! We already sent out our Save the Dates, literally two weeks ago and people have received them. Right now we are going forward as planned. Our venue is temporarily closed due to 'social distancing' and the closure of non-essential business in Nevada. I contacted our venue this week and they advised that the couples who have had to reschedule events from April/May/June are rescheduling for August/September. We are hoping that this pandemic will subside quickly! Good luck!

Maybe you can send them and add a note or something inside that says something about a tentative change due to the current global pandemic. I mean the good thing is that you don't need to explain the situation to your guests as the whole world is aware of the what is going on.

My wedding was 3/24/2019 and we are around the corner from our one year anniversary, originally we were going to vacation starting Monday the 23rd for about a week and go be beach bums down in Cancun, we had made arrangements for most things but in December decided to push it back because my husband needed to accrue more time off. In January we decided to push our vacation to the end of August and go to Europe for two weeks starting off in Rome, Italy and ending in Barcelona, Spain. We have booked airbnbs, flights and activities and I purchased cancellation insurance for everything as well just in case. We have not yet started to cancel everything because for all I know by August our trip could be full on again. We're hoping for the best and preparing for the worst all together. We have already gotten emails from our flights saying that if we wish we can cancel already but we're really hoping that the situation becomes better.

    Best of luck to you!

I'm kind of in a wait and see mode. The main thing I had planned for the next few months was to pick out wedding party attire. My feeling with that is we're going to be looking to online stores that offer shipping and returns rather than in-person places to try things on, which isn't ideal, but it's better than nothing.

I will say I'm concerned that this will still be an issue come October but right now I'm choosing to stay cautiously optimistic that we can and will get this under control sooner rather than later (would appreciate more people taking it seriously though...) I do have friends and vendors who are impacted by all of this, and feel awful for them. It's hard to remember that it's okay to be concerned about how things might go if we're still in this place six months from now when there are so many people dealing with it right now.

I hadn't planned on sending invitations out until June at the earliest, so I'm hoping by late April, we have a better sense of where we are with flattening the curve.

I’m wondering if we should still send out our saves the dates with some sort of note that we will let people know if anything will change? I’ve sent the save the dates already to anyone who was planning to come from overseas.
