Convertible bridesmaid Dresses from Davids Bridal

6-22-19 Mrs.williams, on June 4, 2018 at 9:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

I have an appointment with Davids Bridal in 2 months and i wanted the girls to try on the convertible dresses in malibu blue. My question is which one should i be looking at? There is mesh, jersery, style your way and style 6 ways. i just want to have an idea of which direction to go in so i don't waste time while i'm there. Thanks

You’re so far ahead of me and my wedding is in 4mos. Lol we still haven’t chosen BM dresses.

I’d say look at them, pick a few you like, have them try them on..make a decision from there. Though it’s a bit early to be chosen and ordering BM dresses for a June 2019 wedding.

Check and see if the store even has them available to try on at all. My store didn't.

The in store selection is waaaaay smaller than the online selection. I would ask your girls what they like and have everybody save them with item # to your phone so you can have the consultant pull them quickly at your appointment. Also, don’t be surprised if half the dresses you were looking at are not in store to try on.

I had my bridesmaid picked out years ago and they said to pick the dresses about 8-10 months before the wedding so im not that early. just want to go and get it done so its one less thing to stress about.

Defiantly call the store ahead of your appointment to make sure they have the dresses.

I'd call the store to make sure they have it. Also, I can't remember exactly which one but I think one of the convertible styles is being discontinued so you may want to check on that to.

As an ex davids employee I recomend the mesh version if it hasnt been doscontinued in the year since I left there. The mesh is really comfy and with a little imagination there are literally endless possibilites to style that dress.

I’d have them try multiple styles, even the non convertible types.

do you have an appointment for them and you on the same day?

My wedding is in 2 months and six days and I just emailed the bm dress info out to my girls yesterday. I’m a pro procrastinator.

Also, think about your bridal party. One of my friends did her BM dresses too far out and two of her BMs ended up pregnant. One had the baby right before the wedding and the other was about to pop on the big day. Needless to say, the dresses they originally bought no longer worked.

This was the other style. I think they are both the same dress but different numbers not sure. Also will they be cool enough for a beach wedding cause they are long.

I work at Davids Bridal and I believe you’re referring to the Versa Dress. It’s strapless and has extra fabric at the bottom to bring to the top to personalize straps. Unfortunately this style is being discontinued as far as I know. If you really want it I wouldn’t wait 2 months, and look online what sizes are left in the Malibu color!

How come it doesn't say online that it's being discontinued? Do you know when the last day is? What are they having that comes super close? Thanks so much.

Hmmmm.... clicked on the link and it says new.... 🧐🧐🧐 I’m not quite sure why. The versa style is old and I definitely got a notification that it was going out. It must have changed since I’ve been at work (I was gone for two weeks, but DB is going through a lot of transitions so we ar constantly learning new styles and ways to do things) perhaps they changed something small? I’m not sure lol!! Either way, Malibu is a cut to order dress and will take 3-4 months AT LEAST to get in! So please don’t wait if this is the dress and color you want!

Also- the two links are the same dress, the version that begins with 4xl means extra length for taller ladies!

Your best bet is to call the closest David’s to you and just ask- I only work one day a week so if I haven’t been there for a few weeks a lot could have changed as I mentioned there are a lot of changes happening! I also am a bridal specialist and don’t work with bridesmaids often, so I’m by far not an expert on this! Online won’t say it’s discontinued, it will give you the sizes available and such until they are sold out! So if you need a size 8, and they sell all of the 8s in Malibu in the warehouse, it won’t show as an option anymore online.

i hope I’m not making this worse! Just seeing that it says new online really threw me for a loop because we’ve had that dress in store for a lonnnggggg time!

That's what I thought the only difference was but I wasn't sure. That makes my choice way easier. Lol and cut to order means I can get it alot shorter if I wanted to correct? I've got girls that are medium size 30 and 32, 1 thats 12 ( skinny) and one thats a little heavier in her 60s. What do you suggest would be a perfect length for all for a wedding on the beach in june?

No, sorry for using DB lingo 🙈 cut to order means that this color isn’t pre made, they only make the dress when it’s ordered, and the only time it’s in the warehouse is when there are cancellations and such. I am 80% sure Malibu is one of these colors that they don’t make unless it’s ordered. Mint also used to be cut to order. All this means is that you’re not going to get the dress in less than a month like sometimes people expect. I’ve seen a dress that takes 5 months to come in- this is why stylists stress to purchase ASAP (unless someone will drastically change weight due to medical reasons, but even then it’s risky)

for a beach wedding in june it it will be pretty hot. Some opt for the shorter dress because of the heat. But You know you’re bridesmaids and if it won’t be too hot for a long dress. I personally prefer the look of long dresses. I think it looks more uniform and formal. My favorite wedding I was in had a long dress. But if you think you like the look of more causal short dresses it’s your big day! Go for what you love Smiley smile
