Consumption Bar

Danielle K, on January 17, 2019 at 4:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

If you had a consumption bar can you please tell me the following;

1. how many guests (or rather how many over 21 yo guests)

2. How much did each drink cost (IE: at my venue a class of tap beer is $5 and a glass of wine is $6 but a mixed drink is $9 per glass)

3. How many hours your bar was open

4. What state are you in (**EDIT**)

5. And finally how much you ended up spending

I'm not married yet so I can't help you with the last one, but we are doing a consumption bar:

    1. We have about 90 guests
    2. Beer is between $4 and $4.75 (we have three options), wine is between $23 and $28 per bottle (also offering 3 options, and guessing each bottle is about 4 glasses). We're not offering liquor but we are doing poinsettias (champagne and cranberry juice). Its $35 per punch bowl and my coordinator said they usually only have to refill it once.
    3. Bar is open for 3.5 hours
    4. We're in NY.

We're doing a lunch reception so we're not expecting people to drink a ton.

    Hope that helps!

We haven't had our wedding yet, but our venue told us a consumption bar ends up being cheaper unless you have a heavy drinking crowd (like we do). Our open bar rate equals about 6 beers per person so we are just doing an open bar.

We had a consumption bar ..
We had 180- guest... with about 172 being 21
Drinks I don’t know for sure but I’m guessing beers 4-5$, glass of wine 8$, and mixed drinks probably around 10$ at most depending on liquor
bar was open for 6 hours
I’m in Rhode Island and our wedding had a lot of drinkers .. like a lot
and I want to say it was anywhere between 6500/7500 on the end .. we have the venue 2,000 up front ( that was gone before cocktail hour closed ).. and then we had a credit card on file- like a tab at a regular bar..
we were going to do open bar regardless but our venue charged per person / per hour .. so even if we jsut did the package they offered w beer and wine we would have ended up spending more then we did !
