Construction safe wedding bands

kylie, on May 4, 2017 at 4:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

So the title is pretty self explanatory. My fiance works in a construction type job plus he races motorcycles.

With that said he is against wearing a traditional ring that could injure as this has happened to a friend of his (his finger was barely hanging on).

I am starting to look at silicone bands and I wanted to see if there were any other materials for a ring to be made out of that could be considered.

I don't have any suggestions but I would have him check with his place of work. I work at a chemical plant in construction and none of the companies who do work for us are allowed to use wedding bands no matter if they are silicone or not.

So it's not silicone, but Tungsten (I think that's the name) is a metal that will shatter (or it's supposed to, double check it) when pressure is put on it, that way it won't crush his hand. My FH works in a factory and he probably just won't wear a ring at all, but we've been looking at titanium and tungsten, and wood (since wood will break).

ETA: Tungsten (like Glenna said) is durable, but will shatter if his hand is sucked into a pipe bender, which is something that could totally happen to my FH.

My dad is a printer and he doesn't wear a ring at work. He leaves it in his locker and puts it back on when he changes into his street clothes.

Tungsten rings can break pretty easily if enough pressure is applied. My brother broke his when he squeezed down on a pair of pliers.

We're going with the tungsten carbide for his. They are durable but can also be broken if/ when needed. (Just saw other gals who said the same.)

My FH ordered a silicone band to wear for doing construction and handyman work like that and I also bought him a traditional band made from tungsten and rose gold! The company he got his silicone band from has a lifetime warranty-if it stretches out or breaks or anything they will replace it. His came in a little small so they sent him a new one right away and just said to send back the old one when he could. They're awesome, I wish I could remember the name!
