Congratulations on Your Engagement Card

Victoria, on February 11, 2018 at 10:36 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
We received a card congratulating us on our engagement this week from a woman we don't plan on inviting to the wedding. There was no gift or anything, just a sweet gesture from a woman who I worked with many years ago.

How do we acknowledge her card? Do we send her a formal thank you card, or can I send her a text thanking her for thinking of us?

For me, I find a hand written note of appreciation is always more heartfelt and personal; but this is coming from someone who still mails out Christmas cards Smiley winking

While I agree that a hand written note is more personal ( and I also take great pride in my Christmas cards! Lol) I don’t think a handwritten thank you card is needed to thank someone for their congratulations. I think a phone call or text letting her know you received the card and appreciate it would be enough.

I would at least call her or not send a note. She obviously thought more highly of you than just a text message.

I agree with this. I think a thank you card for a card is too much, and I am usually a big fan of handwritten gestures as well.

Thanks girls. I thought a card was too much too but wasn't sure what others thought. We usually only touch base every so often via text, but I'll give her a call this week.

Yea, I don't think you need to send a card for receiving a card. A text or call is fine.
