Confetti send off?

Rachel, on October 31, 2020 at 7:15 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11
Hey ladies! Have any of you used confetti poppers/cannons/flick sticks for a confetti send off? I’m hoping to order them by the end of next week and wanted to ask yalls opinions. The requirement is that it must be biodegradable, & white.

I love the confetti cannons, but they’re pretty expensive (10 of them for $90) and we have 45 guests. I had the thought of only ordering 10 of them since they shoot so high up and 45 of them would probably bury us in confetti anyway 😂
I’ve also seen the “flick sticks,” which basically look like a smaller cannon but it’s similar to a confetti cone, so not sure how effective it will be for getting great pics
We’re likely also going to order smoke bombs as well to line the exit path and use them as long as its not too windy. So it’d be smoke + confetti
Let me know your thoughts/opinions!

While it is cute, many venues do not allow confetti/glitter/silk petals and other non-biodegradable items

First find out if the venue allows it before you purchase.

I’m not trying to come across as rude, but I have already asked my venue. I came here to ask if anyone had first hand experience between cannons or the flick sticks.. I’m not going to purchase something without asking my venue. That’s why I put in my post that I was seeking biodegradable options.

I’m not sure what cannons you’re talking about. And I don’t have any suggestions on which to buy/use.
But, I bought a little cannon/popper thing and used it after my graduation.
It was loud, the anticipation of the pop made me nervous and when it went off I made a face. Your idea sounds cute, I would just worry the pictures wouldn’t come out the way I wanted if they make a loud noise and scared my guests. Also something to think about, will the smoke overwhelm the confetti if used together? I hope you find what you’re looking for.

I think it sounds fun! As long as the venue is OK with it, I say go for it. I don't have any experience with either, but they both sound like they'd be great for photos. If the venue is OK with either option, I'd say go for the one that doesn't make as loud of a noise? Cassidy brought up a good point about loud noises being scarier/unexpected to guests.

I attended a wedding as a guest where they used the confetti cannons during the recessional. They had every other person on the aisle use them & it worked great. The pictures were awesome!
On a sidenote, I would exercise caution with the smoke bombs. Not sure if you’ve ever used them before? We used them for our save the date photos, and they smell BAD. They were literally choking us out. My lungs felt trashed the rest of the night. And if you use any sort of colored smoke bomb, it will stain your hair and clothes (and those of your guests).

Thanks! That’s definitely something to take into consideration as far as the noise goes.

Ooh good point! So I have never used them, but my photographer has. He was only giving possible suggestions & he has used them before. I’ll ask him regarding smell because i definitely don’t want that. I was gonna go with a white color because i wasn’t sure if it would stain or not.

I’ve also seen the pics where people use the cannons at the recessional. I’ll have to think about that! Our ceremony is outside so it’s possible. I guess if we did that we wouldn’t have an actual send off after the reception? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi! We used dried flower petals. Try Etsy, you may be able to find dried white rose petals or another white flower. The confetti canon sounds very expensive...and agreed with PP- though cool, smoke bombs can be a pain. Best of luck and congratulations!
