Confetti on tables? Is that tacky?

Emily, on March 26, 2017 at 12:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 33

I have been thinking of some small (1/4 inch or so) heart cut outs that were used for confetti for the each of the tables just to give them a little something extra... My mom said that it might look tacky.. ???

Tacky is the word of the day. It reminds me of like school functions or prom. My venue has a "No confetti" rule, so I'd definitely check to make sure it's allowed.

Feels birthday party-ish. Also, check your contract-mine specifically states that we cannot use confetti of any kind or lose glitter.

I think it's cute personally but definitely check with your venue to make sure it's allowed

A bit like what we put on the second graders' desks on Valentine's Day. Your choice though.

I would check with the venue. I used silk flower petals for mine.

My venue also has a no confetti rule, and even if they didn't, I would pass on it. I don't really consider it tacky, I just think it is unnecessary.

    It's not necessary -- it's also a little juvenile. I'd skip it.

Anything on your tables (petals, glitter, whatever) is going to look juvenile. Skip it.

If you are really set on having it, maybe put it in some sort of pretty container. That will keep it from getting everywhere and potentially look a little more wedding-like.

Check with the venue to see if they have an confetti rules. Think about clean up, also...other than that, do what you wish : ) To confetti/not confetti...it's not a big deal either way.

I don't think it's appropriate wedding decor; maybe use it for your shower??

Please don't take this the wrong way, I really don't mean this as mean at all, I swear! But, this is something I could see my 20 year old doing. And I would think it's cute for her. I'm 40, I wouldn't for mine. Maybe it's more of an age appropriate thing?

I don't think it's tacky, but most venues won't allow it.

Makes me think of a birthday party and a lot of venues do not allow it due to the mess it makes.

Even if your venue does allow it, make sure to check fine print to see if there's an extra clean up fee associated with it! I think it could look cute for pictures, but I feel that it would be getting all over the place. Any breeze would make it go flying, it might get in people's food, people are gonna get it stuck all over them. Nice theory but maybe not practical?

I thought I'd hate it but after clicking on your post I think the hearts are pretty cute! I'd consider whose going to be attending your wedding though. Do you have a big guest list or small guest list? Do you think your guests will get pretty drunk or not? Any young kids? These could all impact how much of a pain it'd be to clean up at the end of the night. Also as everyone else says, check with the venue!

I don't think it is "tacky". But it is a PAIN to clean up.
