Concrete vs dance floor

Jess, on October 9, 2020 at 8:12 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
Hi fellow brides!
I am about 15 days from big day and I wanted to get everyone’s thoughts! Our venue is outdoors and the current dance floor is concrete, we are given the option to rent a dance floor. My heels are 4 inches high and the heel is thin but not too thin. I noticed the concrete at our venue has very thin lines and I’m afraid my heel with get caught on it. Smiley sad
So the question is do I rent a dance floor or dance on the concrete?
All your thoughts are highly appreciated and thank you in advance!P.S congratulations on your big day! Smiley smile

Would you be against changing into other shoes for the reception? I assume you’ve spent a bit of money in other aspects of the big day. And the concrete dance floor comes with the place so it’s one less thing to pay for by renting another floor.

If you do change shoes, make sure they are the same height or you will on your dress. I have danced on both and can't tell a difference. Spend the money elsewhere because the concrete will be fine. But you could rent one for peace of mind but it's not necessary.

Dancing on concrete is really hard on the knees - a wooden dance floor has a little bit more “give” and is much easier on joints. If you can swing it in the budget, I’d rent a dance floor, otherwise you may find your guests staying off it (particularly older guests).

I recommend changing your shoes for the reception.

Also, talk with your alterations people, because I changed from 3 inch heels to sneakers, and it wasn't a problem.

Cement is hard on the knees, but a dance floor is expensive and sometimes very slippery. We danced on our venue's tiled floors and had no problem.

You should rent the dance floor. It will be more comfortable than concrete if you plan on dancing a lot.
Your guests may also have issues with heals, and won't have other shoes to change into.

I would just change shoes and keep the concrete dance floor.

If you have the budget, I would highly recommend renting the dance floor. Even if you change shoes, the majority of your female guests will be in heels and they won't necessarily know to bring an extra pair of shoes unless you tell them.
