Bridal boutiques recommend ordering your dress at a minimum of 10 months out to ensure it arrives in time for alterations. I would order the dress is whatever your size is at that time. A seamstress can take the dress in where needed. I promise, you would rather the dress be too big than too small!

Every article I've read states 6 to 9 months before your wedding. Honestly, there's no right or wrong answer. It's entirely up to you but know this. If there are v any alterations that need to be made you need to take your dress to the shop 4 months before your wedding for them to start because after all that is their business. I found my say yes to the dress a year ago, literally, at a bridal show. It's a size 14 and I to am on a weight loss journey. My goal is 20 lbs. My weight has fluxuated some since then so my goal is to make sure U fit into that dress and some then some for the alterations. Hope this helps

Https://www.maggiesottero.com/faq Authorized retailers/ salons have their reasons for pushing buy early. It helps to get a reality check, and will reassure you to see the official recommendation.
"How far in advance do I need to purchase my Maggie Sottero wedding gown?

We recommend starting your dress journey at least 6 months before your “I Do” date. But—if your wedding is just around the corner, we offer quick delivery dresses through our Authorized Retailers. See a few of our fav quick delivery styles here. " START looking at 6 months. Many lines post this now. TV and media and sales have pushed this buy early or you will miss out, so deeply into bride's heads, that by a few years back, wedding lines like MS, which always said looking at 6 months, try to order by 5 was okay, have for several years been putting it on their websites. Because they lose a huge amount of business if people who do not have the money til 6 months out, or have shorter engagements, just assume they cannot get a mame dress. So they do noy even try. They hot davids, Azazie, and mail order websites. In fact, brides need to see the sales hype for what it is. You have been nearly scared off and it will be May and you will still have time to shop then for December. Most major lines, until you get into higher priced gowns with real silk and name crystal and lots of hand work, this is true at 5 and 6 months, and near 4.5 you need to rush order, or use quick to ship dresses.

It is highly recommended you buy the dress the size you are now and know that a dress can typically be taken in up to 2 sizes (it is very difficult or not possible to let out a dress). But if you’re *certain* you can lose weight (even when you’re stressed), could an probably order down 1 size and be ok. But talk to your bridal salesperson about that.

Dresses can always be taken in but not let out. Better for too big than too small.
