communication between your bridal party

Jessa, on October 20, 2010 at 9:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Just wondering if everyone in your bridal party knows each other? are they friends? have they been getting along well in terms of communicating about the wedding, shower, bach party? i have six girls...4 are my college friends, 1 is FH's sister, and 1 is my childhood friend. i feel bad sometimes because i have been hearing through the grapevine from some of them separately that communication has been pretty bad between them all in terms of organizing things for the wedding, mainly the bach party. just wondering if i am alone in this.

My wedding is a year away, i have chosen the bridal party but i haven't spoke to them yet, it's going to be 7 of them including the maid of honor and maitron of honor, out of the group 5 of them are from my church and 2 are old friends, the 5 know each other, i plan on having a little get together exchanging phone and email once everyone confirmed they're participation. I feel you though, I was part of a wedding where we didn't know each other, we all met at the rehearsal dinner, it wasn't pretty. My friend is getting married this december, I am in the bridal party, so far communication is great, we even got a free conference line, so we can schedule meeting and plans upcoming events, we use facebook, texting, email, all of it, although I haven't met a few of the girls but i feel like i know them.

My advice to you is to plan some kinda social gathering, make sure they get to know each other exchange info, your wedding is coming up, there's no time for miscommunication. Best of luck

I have 7 girls and a flowergirl....my bridesmaids come from pittsburgh, philly, allentown, the poconos, D.C., etc. I made up a great contact sheet (name, phone, address, email, etc) for the girls, emailed them all the contact sheet and grouped them for future email. I know my mother did the same but without my email address.

But by far my favorite thing that I have done was have them all find a date that they could make it into the area and we went for a full day making the final pick on my dress and then their dresses. We went to dinner, etc. It was so great how well they got along. There were some akward giggles at first, but when I was trying the dresses on they really broke the ice and got to know each other. By the end of the day I could have possibly left and they wouldn't have noticed for a while. This makes me so excited for the bachelorette party!

Ok so my MOH is my best friend and we have been besties for 15 years. One bridesmaid is a girl I work with who was super close with me then got kinda weird lately. The other bridesmaid is my FH's cousin/adopted sister (long story happy ending). My junior bridesmaid is my MOH's daughter who is three months and four days older than my baby boy...they are 12. Communication between MOH and JrBm has been wonderful and JrBm has been helping MOH every way she can. BM I work with is not communicating with ANYONE. Has her dress and the shoes (which she owes MOH for) but has flaked on the shower and didn't help with any of it including any costs. May or may not flake for the Bach Party since is it October 30th and that is the night before Halloween (which is my high holy day of the year...Celtic Witch that I am and all). My FH's cousin is not getting involved in anything other than wearing a pretty red dress and standing up to be admired. I am stressed too. Don't feel alone.

Oh I forgot to mention I don't have a MOH. I can't pick one...they are all so important to me. Long story short....I moved alot for the first few years out of high school, between college and different jobs. They are all pretty much my Best friends in each area. They each hold a spot in my heart and none is more "worthy" than the others.

I have 5 girls and they don't all know each other. They have separate duties (one is planning the bachelorette party, another is planning the bridal shower, etc) and everyone's helping me out on the big day, so far everyone's on point and they like having two years notice, lol.

Our groomsmen have all met and are friends (his two brothers and my brother). Our bridesmaids, 2 have met eachother once and the other 2 are sisters/my cousins (FH's sister and my two cousins). I'm planning that when we do BM dress shopping we will make a whole girls day of it; just me and the ladies of my bridal party so everyone can meet and greet. So far the one cousin who did meet FH's sister really liked her and vise versa Smiley laugh

It sounds like for the most part that everyone is getting along! sekasorto, SO jealous of your bach party date, that is totally what my first choice would have been! the groomsmen of course dont all know each other, but boys are so simple. one of my MOH and another bridesmaid each called me separately and were just telling me how nobody is cooperating, responding, etc. one of my bridesmaids i didnt even want in the bridal party, but she is a childhood friend and her parents mean the world to me, so i basically did it for them. i dont want to be stressed about how everything is going to end up, but i cant help it!

I have 9 girls... My two sisters my niece, three of my childhood friends, and three of my other good girldfriends who I became colse with in my 20's. My sisters and my child hood friends know eachother and two of my childhood friends know the other three girls so it's mishmashed. I am having a brunch at my house on a Sunday in December with the girls so it will be like a little meet and greet so everyone can get a little more comfortable and get to know eachother.

Yes they all get along nicely with each other and are friends - my biggest challenge with them is making sure they all are involved as much as possible. My MOH/Sister is in Chicago so her and I are on the phone and computer a lot. I have 2 BM's here in Jersey with me and one came dress shopping with me while the other one came to the Florist meeting. But as far as them communicating with each other the only complaint I have heard so far was that one of my BM was trying to get in touch with my sister so they could act as MOH 1 and MOH 2 LOL .... she has taken the role of Jersey MOH since my real MOH is so far away from me Smiley sad

I have 6 two of my best friends and the rest are family memebers so they know each other casually... my wedding is next summer so I'm waiting til after the holidays then having a girls night in at my place... dinner, drinks.. chocolate (of course) so that everyone can meet and we can make a few decisions, date to order their dressses, what color shoes they want to wear and whatever else we add to the list before hand.. I think its important to get the wedding party together at least a couple of times before the wedding so they aren't complete strangers...

My MOH insisted that I get to have the party on October 30th since FH didn't want to have a Halloween/Samhain wedding. Are you feeling any less stressed? Private messge me if you want to vent. I will send you my email address. It is stressful but we will get you through it.
