Communicating Covid-19 to guests

Lindsay, on March 14, 2020 at 5:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Hey everyone! With all of this going on, my wedding is April 18 and naturally I’m a bit panicked, however I was wondering how everyone was keeping up communication with guests regarding what’s going on. As of right now, ours is still on but it is definitely still up in the air if our venue ends up cancelling. Did everyone just post on their sites, emails, calls, etc? Also we were thinking about communicating to our guests that we want safety to be their top priority and we do not want them to feel obligated to come if they are uncomfortable doing so. Any suggestions on wording?!

Any suggestions would be extremely helpful!

I just sent a post on ig and Facebook letting everyone know the wedding is nott cancelled and asked anyone whos changed their plans due to coronavirus concerns for them to let us know asap. I also said coronas are guaranteed for everyone who comes but without virus on the side. But no one got my joke.

Our wedding is May, and I just posted something on our wedding website today. I'll copy/paste the exact wording below. As it gets closer, if things change, I'll find other ways to communicate with our guests through email, text or messenger, but this is what I'm starting with..

We are aware that the Coronavirus and the concerns surrounding it are a very serious matter, and could potentially effect our wedding day. As of today, March 14th, our wedding remains as planned - if this changes, we will certainly let everyone know.

Locally, the schools have shut down until at least April and the cruiseline we were planning our honeymoon on has announced a 30 day suspension as of yesterday, so naturally, we are a little worried as for what the future holds right now!

Our wedding is still two months away, so a lot may change by then, but with so much uncertainy, we want everyone to feel comfortable knowing that we completely understand anyone who cannot attend due the current circumstances, especially for elderly guests, those flying in and those with compomised health in general.
PLEASE DO NOT PUT YOURSELVES AT RISK FOR OUR WEDDING - if you feel you are at risk in anyway, please do to not feel obligated to come. Although it saddens us that there is a potential for many guests not to be able to make it to our wedding day, in no way do we want to compromise anyone's wellbeing.

We are trying our best to keep a positive and open mind about everything and what's to come! So, fingers crossed it all works out the way it's suppose to Smiley smile

If you have ANY questions or concerns about ANYTHING, please reach out to one of us! Either through the Contact Us link on this page, email, text/call or Facebook Messenger.

I agree with the above! Put information on our website and talked to anyone who reached out by phone/text.

We subscribed to Wedtexts so we just sent a group text similar to those above. We also encouraged our guests to purchase travel insurance (it’s a destination wedding).

PunchBowl is a nice app that you can create a free invitation to email or text to your guests. My sister sent hers yesterday to announce she is currently continuing with her April 11th wedding unless other restrictions come about. She also posted the updated invitation link on her FB.
