Coming to terms with the thought i may never marry my fiance

Alyssa, on November 21, 2025 at 11:54 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 1 3

I am super sad. Me and my fiance got engaged after 6 years of dating but the realization has hit we may never actually marry.

I'm disabled and on disability and if I marry they will kick me off it. We can't afford that. We can't really afford anything really. I'm so tired of it. Can't even have a commitment ceremony either. How do i make peace with this?

Why is a commitment ceremony or just religious marriage not possible?

You can literally just have a ceremony there’s no laws binding you two it’s not like the disability office is gonna revoke your disability because you threw a party. This is absurd.

My fiance and I are facing the exact same thing! Don't you dare let that STOP you have what were having and what every Gay couple had until they made it leagle a handfasting ceremony. In the eyes of God you're husband and wife. It's just not legal and REALLY do you need that piece of paper? I mean honestly YOU know YOU love ❤️ him. HE LOVES YOU! You can always legally change your name. Just like me. I'm still getting married if anything it means MORE. As my husband to be says this is older and means oh so much more. See I'm Druid I was raised in a split household my Mom was Catholic my Dad was Druid very very old school magic so was my grandmother old school witch Irish ancestry. So kinda wild we're getting married on Halloween 🎃 having a Renaissance themed wedding with a Celtic handfasting. But there all kinds of handfasting rituals look into it.
