Comfy heels. Do they exist?

Brianna, on February 19, 2018 at 10:18 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18
Hello!

I'm not a heel girl, in fact I hate them. I'm usually in torturous pain every time I wear them for a few hours for big events.

However, I guess I should wear some on my wedding day. It also makes sense because my fiancé is 6'6". Haha

Can you recommend heels that won't shred my feet and make me cry? 🙂

Honestly, I would say if you're not comfortable in heels, don't wear them! No need. Your being uncomfortable (especially if you say you are always in excruciating pain whenever you wear them), will be evident in all of your photos, how you walk, etc.

However, I will say a wedge or a block heel are both good options if you're looking for a more stable, comfortable heel. Personally, Gianni Bini (sold exclusively at Dillard's) is the heel brand I wear to work every day and love. They are super comfy and have many styles to choose from in all different colors. But what is comfortable to me (I wear heels 5+ days a week), may not be comfortable to you. There are always inserts, too!

Grab some Dr. Scholl's inserts for high heels. makes all the difference in the world. I have the foot pad one and the ones that go around the heel for my wedding stilettos, feels like I'm walking in my comfy sneakers. lOl.

Try Menbur or Sofft. Choose a shoe with at least a small platform- so much more comfortable on the ball of your foot compared to those thin Badgley Mischka soles.

A block heel or wedge will also help. They spread out the weight over a larger surface.

I have no recommendations. However, consider buying two pairs of shoes. My FH is really tall too so I want heels for pictures, but I will be changing into flats immediately after the ceremony.

If you’re dead set on wearing heels, I would honestly look for Steve Madden and something with a thicker block kind of heel. No one will really see them and he has tons of nude heels. SM is my absolute favorite and while I’ve tortured myself in other heels, I have never had a bad night with SM. They are true to size and literally so comfy. I had to walk home a few nights ago because no cabs were available and was wearing 4 inch heeled Steve Maddens (boots). I walked a mile and a half with no complaints.

Exactly what I was going to say! Also check out dsw- just make sure you don’t go too high and wear them around a lot !! Remember depending on what kind of dress you have it can be a little more complex to walk in than your normal dress and clothes. Brings flats as back up just in case

There is about a foot difference between my FH and I, but I wasn't sure about how high of a heel I wanted. Mine are on the smaller side and quite comfortable. However, I will probably rock a pair of Toms at the end of the evening!

Consider wearing a dressy wedge to get the height. They are generally more comfortable than a narrow heel.

i wore these shoes by Vince Camuto.

I’ve had good luck with micheal kors heels. You’ll pay $100-150 but they are super comfy and last forever. I don’t know if they have fancy wedding ones though

I am the same as you Whenever I wear heels my feet are just in absolute agony. I do love heels and I have a bunch of them but I never wear them because of how badly they hurt my feet. For my wedding day I am getting a pretty Pair of stilettos at least for the parts of the wedding where people will see my feet and shoes AKA the garter removal and the newlywed game. For walking down the aisle during the ceremony and everything else in my wedding I will be wearing a very small block heel instead of flats and they are actually suprisingly comfortable. I'll post a picture of them here

I’ve bought 4 pairs of shoes, that have gradually gotten lower as I do my fittings and get closer to the wedding. I started doing the math on how long I have to wear them and honestly, there aren’t really any shoes that are comfy for 8-10 hours.
I ended up buying Sophia Webster’s Lilico sandal with the block heel in silver. Also, since they aren’t that high, I could easily change into a wedge flip flop without dragging my dress on the floor.
For the after party, I bought a short dress and Gucci sparkly glitter tennis shoes.

If you want heels I'd say go with wedges. They are way more comfortable in my opinion

My FH is 6'4 I'm 5'...5'1 on a good day. I have a strong determination to be taller than 5 ft on my wedding day and thus will settle for nothing less than a 4 inch heel. I have a 4 inch platform wedge that has been my go to favorite for years, most comfortable heel to wear and I know thats the style of heel I'll need to be comfortable all night.

Most people can find a comfortable wedge, but if you try a shoe on and its the least bit cramped, or it pushes a toe wierd or your ankle doesn't feel right, then do not get that shoe. Theres no "breaking them in" or getting used to it. It takes some shopping but find a style you can wear then find that style in your wedding shoe.

I don't like heels at all but did want a little height (i'm 5'1" and H is 5'11") so I went with a platform wedge by Bjorn. They were super comfortable and I wore them for over 8 hours. The entire heel is a solid block of wood so when I step, there is no movement which takes all the stress of off my foot.
