Comfortable Shapewear - Is that a thing?

Jennifer, on January 3, 2022 at 8:40 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
When I rescheduled my fitting yesterday, this had me thinking. I wasn’t planning on wearing any shapewear at all because comfort is the utmost important to me. Like, I hate wearing bras as is. Is there such a thing as a comfortable shapewear where it feels like nothing? How much of a difference does it really make? I guess it depends on the dress. This is me in my unaltered dress at the moment. I’m short so it really needs to be hemmed… a lot.Comfortable Shapewear - Is that a thing? 1

I don’t think there exists any type of shapewars that “feels like nothing”. The entire intended purpose of shareware is to squeeze and suck you in. To “feel like nothing” the material would have to be incredibly thin and provide little to no support, let alone shaping. If comfort is your number one concern, I would definitely suggest foregoing shapewear.
I am like you- comfort on my wedding day is one of my top priorities; so I will be embracing my body as is and not wearing shapeware or a bra (my dress has a deep V in front and a sheer back, so any sort of bra I would need to wear would be incredibly uncomfortable).

Agreed! I’m not wearing a bra either haha. I think that’s part of the reason why I got this dress because I’m kind of forced NOT to wear a bra (or a really uncomfortable one, which is a No). I’ll be embracing my body at that time as well. I am working on shaping it now because building muscle and losing the fat takes time, but I’ll be happy with whatever it is by the time I do my first fitting. Thank you!

Honeylove and Shapermint both have great reviews if you do a search on the forum. Goodlines.com and boobhold.com are highly reviewed for bra alternatives because cups on their own sewn in don’t provide lift or support.

Lol you guys crack me up. But, 100% agree. One of the many reasons I workout at home is because I don’t have to wear a bra and I can wear super loose tops. Not that I have much to support anyway 🤣

Thanks! Do you still wear them like a bra or are they more like cup replacements for what comes with the dress?

Boobhold has actually gone out of business I believe. I have tried goodlines and their adhesive products gave me what looked and felt like a chemical burn! So if you have sensitive skin at all, proceed with caution!

Thanks for the warning! I have developed sensitive skin ever since I started using a CGM. All those adhesives give me a rash now :/ I have to go through great lengths like putting steroid creams in the areas I’ll be wearing my diabetic devices and rotating them because they just get worse and worse :/

Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry! And I totally relate! I have such sensitivities to adhesives! I would definitely say to just avoid goodlines altogether then (and probably all boob tapes in general).

They have nothing to do with the dress at all. They are high quality pasties with boob tape (and tutorials on the sites). They provide extra so you can practice and test them out before the wedding day. Sewn in cups only pad the nipples and don’t provide support. Your seamstress would have to add boning to make everything stay where it needs to which may or may not change the structure, if you don’t use the boob tape, especially with lower back dresses. Not all seamstresses are trained in how to add boning.
