We got married November 6th and I'm planning to send thank you cards within the next 2 weeks. We had a really cute picture made at the wedding where DH and I are each holding a wine bottle and together they say "Thank You". I was just looking through templates for our cards and thought with it being so close to Christmas it might be cute to make it Christmas themed? We didn't plan on sending Christmas cards this year so it's not to save money or anything. I would still make sure I had a place to write a personal note for each guest. Just an idea. Is this considered tacky?

@CenterpieceFlowers I've never sent Christmas cards so this will be a first for me and DH. Do you think putting a separate written note would be okay inside the Christmas card? I really put effort into my thank you notes, so they will definitely be personalized.

I adore cards that reflect a personal effort on the part of the sender, so I'm totally in your corner, KentuckyWineBride. A personal note is so appreciated -- whether it's a thank you card or a Christmas card (I know I really love two or three sentences in a card). I think you should send out your first batch of Christmas cards as a married couple, with both of you in your wedding finery, and then, I'd urge to continue the practice as the years go by. Christmas cards are a wonderful perk of the season, and I love to receive cards that show the ever expanding family. I am one of those who wishes the annual custom will continue.

If you don't usually send Christmas cards, and this is an opportunity to make your "thank yous" seasonal and festive, I say go for it! But I'm getting into the Christmas spirit today while the cold wind howls outside my window...

I would rather receive a Thank You card & a holiday card separately. That's just me!

If you hand write your thank you, it might not be too bad though! I really like that picture!

I would do them separately. You could still use that design as a Christmas card!

Personalized Christmas cards with your wedding picture is great.

However, thank you cards should be send out separately from holiday cards. It comes across as lazy. It may not be tacky but it is an eye twitch.

If I get my pictures back in time, I'm planning to do them separately. Not everyone on our guest list we will be getting a Christmas card.

I love Christmas, photo cards, weddings... All of it so I'd love something like that. However a personalized thank you really goes a long way especially after a wedding

I know I'm a little late to the party on this one and thank yous and/or Christmas cards have already been sent. But I'm in the exact same boat and found the comments helpful. I have sent Christmas cards in the past (or Christmas card list was the foundation for our guest list). I thought about combining them for my November 6 (2021) wedding because I didn't know if it would be odd to send a personalized thank you card and immediately send another card (Christmas), pretty much within the same week or two. Maybe I don't have to rush on sending out my thank you cards but I wanted to be sure to have those out before the end of the year. Would sending two cards so close together be weird to receive?

Hi Erin! Combined thank you/christmas card? Tacky? 1

We did end up using the merry & married card as our thank you and Christmas card combined. Here’s a pic. I ordered through Minted. We did postcard style. I didn’t get a vibe that it was tacky. We got lots of compliments on the card. I think because our wedding timed out so closely to Christmas. We also got married on November 6th! Coming up on 5 years. It flew! lol
