Combined Father Daughter Mother Son dance Songs?

Heather, on October 31, 2013 at 11:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

We are at a loss.

We hate beign the center of attention so we want to combine our dances at the wedding.

What are some good songs that will accomdate this? Everythign seems to be more catered to either a father daugter dance or a mother son dance.

Ugh, I hate talking about my first wedding, but we combined the two dances, and the song we chose was called "Thanks Again by Ricky Skaggs. Look it up. It's a really sweet song.

    Here's the lyrics:

I've sent bouquets for Mother's Day,

For Father's Day, a shirt and card.

While they came from the heart,

They all fell short of saying how special you both are.

It wasn't ' til I was up and gone,

Married with a couple of kids of my own,

Doing what mamas and daddies do,

That I realized what I must have put you through.

So thanks again for the love in the cradle,

And all of the changes that kept me dry.

And thanks again for the love at our table,

And tannin' my bottom when I told you a lie.

For takin' me fishin' and flyin' my kites,

And tuckin' me in, yes, night after night:

    To my beautiful life-long friends,

Hey, Mom and Daddy thanks again.

I'm still a young man, least I think I am,

But I'm watchin' my own hair turn gray.

And your call last Sunday brought to mind,

That I owe you a debt I ca

I suggest this anytime someone asks, but I love My Wish by Rascal Flatts or Never Alone by Lady Antebellum. They're both gender neutral well wishes.

We are doing ours combined cause all of us are awkward and hate dancing lol

We're using the Elton John song "Blessed," which is actually a song my dad has always loved anyway. It's a nice song.

Funny thing for us is there's a line that says "your eyes might be green, or the bluest that i've ever seen"... I have green eyes and FH has blue eyes. Smiley smile

I like Through the Years by Kenny Rogers. We are planning on doing a combined dance as well as my FH is already dreading forced dances. We will probably even have our wedding party come out half-way through our first dance so we can lessen the amount of dances FH has to do. He's already not happy that I told him that if his grandmother is able to come to the wedding (we are in MA, she lives in Cleveland), I expect him to dance with her as well.

I will have to consider the song we choose for the parents dance well. My FMIL suggested Silly Love Songs (as she used to sing that song to him when putting him to bed as a child) but FH nixed that song saying it's too fast.
