Colors for groomsmen tuxedo

Personally, I don't like the groom in a different color tux than the groomsmen. If you want him to stand out, I would have his vest and tie be a different color. I would also have his boutonniere be larger than the groomsmen. Since your colors are lilac and grey then I think grey would be a perfect color for the tuxes.

I like the idea of the groom having a different color tux as long as it coordinates with the wedding colors. Maybe a dark purple tux for the groom if it matches your wedding colors? I think white could look good, too, especially with a black-tie.

Do you have an extra fabric swatch of the bridesmaids dresses? The way we determined our groomsmens' tux color was by physically bringing in the fabric swatch to Men's Wearhouse and holding it up against the various options. We went with charcoal gray tuxes for the groomsmen and a black tux for my husband.

So we have the same colors. Essentially what we decided was that the groomsmen and my fiancé would wear a different shade of grey tux one dark grey and the other light grey and they’ll all wear the same shade of purple.
