Coloriffics dye-able shoes home kit?

evergeneva, on September 8, 2008 at 1:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

I just bought a pair of dye-able Coloriffics shoes off of eBay and am planning on buying a home dye kit from the Coloriffics website. Has anyone out there used one of the home dye kits? If so, what was it like? Easy or difficult to use? How were the results? Also, which color did you choose? My dress is ivory, but I don't know if I would consider it "light ivory" or "medium ivory" or "true ivory." If I can't get a perfect match, should I aim for an ivory that is lighter or darker than my dress? Thanks!

I will be getting swatches of the colors from Coloriffics directly, so I don't have to worry about deciding on which color kit to buy, but I am still interested in people's experience. Thanks again!

Make sure to wear gloves and follow the directions carefully. Just take your time and you'll do just fine. You might want to see if they have a water proofer - otherwise, the color bleeds when it gets wet (for example, if you have to walk in the rain for any amount of time).

I wouldn't recommend dying the shoes yourself. My best friend's father is a shoe repair guy, as well as dying shoes and he usually doesnt dye them the exact color on the first shot....it is a lengthy process. And I do not believe there is any type of water proofing for dyeable shoes....or he would put it on them, you will definitely need to stay away from any rain...the color will not run off and dye your foot, but the shoes will look speckled.

I would not recommend trying to dye the shoes yourself. At Shoes to Dye For (our physical store) or dyeableshoestore.com, we often offer lower prices than the manufacturer's websites, and we offer custom dye jobs for only $12.00 if the shoes were bought through our site. We can also dye shoes that were bought elsewhere for $25.00. If you send a swatch of your dress to us, we will mix a custom color to match your swatch exactly. Check out our website for more information and to see the hundreds of shoes and accessories we offer. Hope this helps!

I ended up buying the home dye kit after getting swatches from the company. I was very happy with my results, not streaky or blotchy or blemished in any way. The kit is very easy to use. It cost $7.50 for the kit and took about 15 minutes to do, so I would recommend this route for any DIY person!!!!

Have you thought of attaching shoe clips on your shoes? I design bridal shoe clips in various colors, styles, and materials from rhinestones to satin and pearls. You can add shoe clips in ivory color that will offset the color of your shoes. Shoe clips are an affordable way to make your shoes look red-carpet worthy.

Take a look at my website www.absolutelyaudrey.com I am the designer of all the shoe clips.
