We are having a formal black tie wedding. The guys will be wearing Vera Wang Black Slim Fit Tuxes. The man that helped us at Men's Warehouse thinks that there should be a navy blue vest and tie under the jacket to match the bridesmaid dresses. I personally don't like the vest a different color than the jacket, it looks to prom-like for me. The groom will be wearing an ivory vest and tie under his jacket, which I like. What have other people don't that have not matched the color of the vest to the bridesmaid dresses? I was thinking of a black vest, but then would having a blue tie look weird? Should I go all black?

The guys refuse to wear bow ties, because a few of them are self conscious about their lack of neck. I have attached a picture of the Vera Wang tux, my dress, and the bridesmaid dress. Thank you!

We are doing the same tux- FYI, not sure if you tried on the slim fit tux but FH did- the slim fit pant is like painted on! Im talking skinny pants here. We got the regular pant for him and it was really slim already. Just FYI if you asked for slim fit or just that tux (the whole thing is cut slim to begin with). FH is doing a turquoise tie with black vest and the GM have tur vest with black tie. With this tux, you only see a hint of the colored vest, but its enough. If your vest is truly navy it will be very subtle and sharplooking.

I think the colored vest looks really prom-ish too. It looks especially silly when all the guys take their jackets off for dancing and they're in these matchy vests.

I think coordinating ties and pocket squares to match your colors would work?

We are actually going to another suit store this Sunday, after our experience with MW last Sunday. I agree that they are very cookie cutter and the choices are very limited. I am hoping I have more success this weekend with the hubby.

The only reason we are doing vests at all is that we are having a summer wedding and I wanted the guys not to be just in shirts when they take off their jackets at the reception, and I know that my brother will not leave his jacket on all night, so we went with silver vests on two of the groomsmen and the best man will have one that coordinates but doesn't match the MOH.

As for the bow tie versus regular tie debate-FH and best man and one of the gm are all Doctor Who fans and to them, "bow ties are cool."
