Colored hair or not??

Sarah, on December 18, 2017 at 11:07 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 44
I have a year but my hair holds color like no bodies business. It takes months and a lot of money (last time I died my hair it stayed looking like I just did it for 11 months and it was $400 to get it all out) to get color out of my hair. I really want to dye my hair a fun color again but FH thinks I might regret it when the wedding rolls around. So I was thinking about a burgundy color that is almost (not really at all) natural. My wedding colors are navy and maroon/burgundy. First picture is the color I’m thinking. Second picture is my dress and my natural color and last picture is just an example of how well my hair holds color. That red is after 6 months of only touching up the roots. What do y’all think? Should I stay natural until after the wedding? Or risk it and do the pretty purple?

It’s ultimately your decision. I wanted to go back to purple or red, but knew I’d regret it come time for the wedding.

The burgundy color is gorgeous, I colored my hair a similar color and loved it. Again it’s all about what you want, do you have it in budget to spend the $400+ to color it back to brown before the wedding if you want to?

I personally would just get a gloss, and kept it a natural color for the wedding, and dye it a fun color after.

Do you think that you will want purple hair at your wedding? If yes then go for it.

I would not have the budget to color it back which is why I'm hesitant. I mean, I'm sure I could save that before the wedding and set it aside just in case but that just seems like a waste. Right this second I want purple hair! What I'll want in 11 months? I couldn't tell you

I knew for certain I probably wouldn’t want purple hair for my wedding. So i decided to wait a few months to see if I still wanted purple hair, it’s slowly faded away and i don’t want it as much anymore.

I wouldn’t color it, and risk not wanting it come time for the wedding and having to scramble for the money to color it back.

Snag yourself a decent quality lace front wig in the color you want (can grab anywhere between 30-60) And play around with it. Wear it out to try your dress again, go out for lunch, do a fun makeup test run and pin it up. Just see in general how you feel about the color in these situations so you can stack it up against the price and help you weigh which direction you want to go.

I've had every color but black and I always feel happiest with fun colors! Blue was my favorite but I know I don't want blue hair for the wedding. It's so hard because I'm in beauty school right now and I have the longest, thickest, hardest to work with hair in my building so the teachers always have the students practice on me and they all want to color it but I cant Smiley cry They have to use the wigs for that one.

Any other suggestions other than just brown? Maybe a less purple, purple?

7e102aa0f1decfeb92f5bc153b2a66d1--long-bwhat do y'all think about this shade? Still too purple or does this look natural enough? I know in the end it's what I want but I need opinions! The only other person I've asked is my sister and all she said was I should do rainbow.

I feel like both the purple and the more reddish color you have posted are good choices as they give you color, but are still on the more natural side of things than other colors. I would do it. Actually, I did do it. Lol. My hair is that reddish color most of the time.

I think years down the line you’ll regret having unnaturally colored hair in your wedding photos. To each their own, but that would be the thought in my mind .

I've had a very similar color and loved it... for about 3 months. But that's how all my hair colors go. My dad jokes that I change my hair color more than I change my mind "Which is just about every 2 minutes" Thank you for the suggestion

I have always heard people say, "Oh you'll regret that one day!" I love love love crazy hair colors. I had red (in an emo/punk way) in my hair for prom, I had a really not subtle ombre at my bachelor's graduation, I had violet hair at my OT pinning...Honestly, if you love playing with the color of your hair and it makes you happy; go for it. I will always be someone who loves playing with my hair color so I know old-lady me will be like "Dag nabbit, I rocked the heck out of that awesome hair color!"

I personally love the burgundy color in your first picture. I ended up wearing burgundy in my wedding and loved it. It's too far away for you to decide if dying your hair now will determine how you will wear it on your wedding day.

I used to color my hair often, until a former stylist completely destroyed it to where I had to cut it into a bob. Now I’m too hesitant to go back to the fashion colors. One day i will, just not now.😀😝 I love my purple or teal hair. I absolutely loved it.

I think off two things... 1. Would you like to look at it in photos 30 years from now? Would you enjoy looking at those photos and showing them to your grandkids? And 2. Id recommend taking some time to really think about it. You have lots of time between here and your wedding. Play around with temporary options to see what you like best. If you still want that color closer to your wedding, consider doing it then. You'll save money (fewer touchups!) And be confident in your choice!
