Colored corset ties

Jennifer, on July 14, 2020 at 4:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

My dress has a corset back and I'm planning I getting ties to match the bridesmaid dresses, DB Plum. Though finding ties of decent quality that match is becoming harder than I thought. I ordered one from Etsy that said it was plum but when it came in and I compared it to the actual color is was more of a dark fuchsia, especially in the sunlight it turns almost pink, which is definitely not what I want especially with the ceremony being outside.

Its been suggested to just go to a craft store and get some ribbon but I like the thickness of the wedding dress ties, it just looks nicer in my opinion. Another suggestion was to have a seamstress take the excess from a altering a bridesmaid dress and turning that into one, which is a possibility if we can find someone who can do it.

Has anyone had any luck finding colored ties? Or does anyone have any idea of how well dye would stay in satin if I sent a white set of ties out to be professionally dyed to match?

I could be totally overthinking it, but with an unexpected year to plan I'm trying to find the perfect option since I have more time now. We've postponed from Sept 2020 to July 2021.

Here's the back of my dress.

And this is the comparison of the one I already ordered to the color of the dresses.

You could just order white ones and have them dyed to match. A lot of dry cleaners can actually do this

It might be difficult to match because of the material. The color might be the same, but unless the materials are the same they could appear different.

Veronica is right, I think part of the issue is you are comparing chiffon and satin, which hold dye differently and reflect light differently. I’d say if you’re going to have white ties dyed, go a couple of shades darker because of the way sunlight is going to alter the color.

Thank you all for your advise. That’s a good point about the materials. My only hold back with dying them is will the color bleed into my white dress? I love purple and all but I don’t really want to have the back of my dress look loke purple tie dye lol.

As long as it’s done right it won’t bleed.
