Colorado vs. Florida

Katie, on February 20, 2019 at 11:00 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11
He wants the mountains, I want the ocean. I'm looking for recommendations on honeymoon spots in either Colorado (or other mountainous areas) or Florida (or other beachy places) Thanks! Smiley smile

If you do California you could do the mountains half of the time and then drive a few hours and do the ocean the other half.

Instead of Colorado to Montana, way cheaper and less crowded. We are from Colorado and chose to go to Montana for our honeymoon for 1/3 the cost

Thanks for the info! I was SHOCKED to see the prices for a flight from Wisconsin to Colorado.

Hawaii has beaches right off the mountains. There’s no other place like it! We went to Maui two years ago and loved it. I found a condo on VRBO that was reasonably priced, and actually much cheaper than friends who stayed in a hotel that had gone the same time.

Agree that heading to Montana is a great idea! I am biased though because it's my favorite place on Earth. Flathead Lake is the largest lake west of the Mississippi and looks like an ocean sometimes haha has great cabin rentals and sort of beaches. It's also very close to Glacier National Park and the town of Bigfork is really sweet. It can get busy in the summer but that's normal.

California, Lake Tahoe is stunning, and Hawaii are also fantastic depending on how expensive it is to get to for you.

We live in Colorado, and I haven't been to Florida in a very long time. If you want a more ocean, relaxing, beach vibe but still want to go to Colorado, you could settle on a lake or somewhere warm! Depending on the season, Denver will be warm, but you'll for sure get warmer weather in southern Colorado.

Floridian here. I agree with those that said to try California or a lake in the mountains, especially if you are considering a June honeymoon. Florida is pretty touristy and HOT. BUT, if you do decide on Florida, I would recommend St. Augustine. The historic areas downtown are cool and you can choose a touristy area with hotels right on the beach, or you can go to Anastasia Island which is a state park and very natural with kayaking and other options. Of course Miami and the Keys are other popular choices, but St. Augustine is my pick!

I prefer Colorado. Not a fan of Florida at all. Other mountainous places that may be cheaper (flight and/or lodging) are Nevada, Montana, and Washington state (where I used to live).

Salt Lake City has some fun options and might be cheaper than Colorado. Saying this as a Colorado native who's entire extended family lives in Salt Lake City.
