Colorado Venues we can Afford?!

Melody, on March 2, 2011 at 9:44 AM Posted in Colorado Planning 1 23

I understand that I may be unrealistic, but I am still hoping to find a venue that is both beautiful and affordable in Colorado. I live in Denver and city or mountains will be fine as long as we can go outside. I refuse to be a a windowless hotel banquet room when colorado is one of the sunniest most beautiful places in the country!

We are paying for this ourselves and our plan was to keep the entire budget under $7,500. That includes $2,500 for the venue (with tables and chairs and everything else that should be in the venue!)and $2,000 for catering. We have looked at some places that originally quote $1,500 for the site, but then you have to rent every last detail and the total cost jumps to $4,000! We don't have a backyard and our family is spread across the country so we need to rent space.

If anyone knows of an indoor/outdoor or just outdoor venue that is still affordable with everything included I really need help. Nearly every venue listed on this site seems out of reach.

A great resource is www.weddingsitesandservices.com. This lists most of the venues available as well as costs.

Try Mount Vernon Country Club. They have a beautiful venue with a large patio and their food is great!

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Word of advise.....I was looking for Colorado venues and ANYTHING near Estes Park/RMNP is $$$$! You are paying for the views, for sure.

The lake house in Evergreen is AWESOME.....but they dont allow alcohol since its a public park.

What was really cool is when we were mountain biking around Daniels Park last year, we ran across a couple of dudes setting up chairs overlooking the mtns. TUrns out they rented the area for $50 (permit) and rented the 100 chairs for $2 each. They saved $$ by picking up the chairs themselves and hauling them in their trucks. So if you really want a cheap but beautiful view, check out the state parks or national forests.

I belive there is a girl on here who is getting married in the San juan national forest.

    And YES......

is AWESOME...thats how I found my place. Meadows at Marshdale. It was a little pricey, but it fit our personality to a tee. :-)

Try Ellis Ranch or Sylvan Dale Ranch, just outside of Loveland. Or The Fountains At Loveland. I think they are reasonable. Ellis Ranch let's you bring in outside catering so that may save you some money. Good luck!

Just be aware that with Ellis Ranch there are a lot of additional fees you have to pay that add up quickly! We looked into it, but decided it was not for us. We will be going to a wedding there in less than a month though!

If you are looking for some great views there is a boy scount ranch west of denver that has an outside ceremony site on the top of a hill. I can't think of the name right now, but I will look when I am home over lunch. I think fh still has some info on it.

We really feel once a bride truly looks at other venues they will find to are truly one of the most reasonable priced venues in Colorado. We have a few additional charges for items like bartending, linens, horse drawn carriage. We are a venue who lets you bring in your own vendors giving you the opportunity to have control over your expenses. You are welcome to bring in your own alcohol and do your own catering or bring a cater in of your choice. We also include items that most other venue don't like the DJ and we also include both a grooms and bridal suite. We would love to have you send us your email and we would be more then happy to email you our pricing and give you a personal tour. Smiles, Ellis Ranch

We also went with the Meadows at Marshdale. We are getting married on a Sunday though so the price is dramatically cheaper. The catering though is... EEK. They have a list of preferred caterers that you have to use or else pay $500 additional. I love my caterer, I truly do, but it is by far the most expensive part of our budget.

The greatest thing is that you can bring in your own booze and, of course, it's gorgeous. Good luck with everything! Keep shopping around, I'm sure you'll find something within your budget that fits your personality!

I've been looking at the Meadows at Marshdale, are you doing the Barn or the Terrace?

Thanks for the tip on weddingsitesandservices.com, there are so many places that aren't listed elsewhere. The search continues!

Hi venue twin! YES! The barn and the mountainside area is AWESOME!

I didnt like the terrace cause it wasnt hidden by all the aspen trees like the mountainside does. Also, the inside where people eat from the terrace...is well...not too attractive, IMHO.

The barn is AWESOME...the only drawback (and I think Angela can agree) is that its multi-leveled....so people will be split between the dancers and the socializers. But luckily, the peeps coming to my shin-dig will meander and not a lot of wallflower action going on. :-)

If you do go and see it, ask for Joe to show it to you. He is VERY nice and lives literally down the hill from it...so he can meet you at odd times....just call in advance.

We may have found our spot! We'll find out if it's for real when we tour tomorrow. The Golden Hotel is a hotel, which we'd been avoiding because so many of them put you in windowless rooms, but this offers a beautiful patio on the creek with a view of the foothills. For $1,500 you get the ceremony and reception site, 5 hours of event time, all the tables, chairs, linens, dinnerware, and servers! Plus a complementary honeymoon suit! That's what I'm talking about!

Found it on www.weddingsitesandserves.com so thanks again for that tip!

Ohhh...the Golden Hotel is GREAT! Good luck!

Oh...and Roxanne...the Standley Hotel.....affordable? Ok...Im gonna be a little bitchy here, BUT $70/per plate PLUS ceremony site fees, and everything else is NOT affordable IMHO! PLUS! oh and this would drive me INSANE! Since its a such a huge destination wedding site cause of the name they literally push weddings through like cattle. My photogrpaher shot a wedding there and they had to wait an HOUR to get photos taken in front of the lake because of all the other couples getting photos there. Uhmm..yeah...I dont think so!

    *drops mic and walks away*

We did like the Golden Hotel, but ended up deciding we wanted a place we could self-cater. We went with the Sunshine Mountain Lodge in Lyons http://www.sunshinemtnlodge.com/ (it was featured on the $2000 Wedding Blog http://2000dollarwedding.com/2008/07/from-conception-to-reception.html). Absolutely lovely place if you're willing to DIY it and have a small guest list (ours was around 60 people).
