Are you going for a very chic/glam NYC vibe? Otherwise the location doesn't matter too much. You can pull off pretty much any color anywhere.

I agree with this - you can choose any colours, you don't need to go with something seasonal!

I do think colours do create the vibe, so it depends on the kind of feel you're going for.

Deeper, jewel tones to me give a more passionate, mysterious vibe whereas softer pastels feel more romantic and sweet.

We are getting married next weekend and our colors are purple and gray with wood and white marble accents. I agree I think any color is fine for all seasons but lavender looks great with everything!

NYC is black - I grew up there. But stylish is always better than basic black. Maybe consider a deep purple with touches of lavender? Or do lavender and browns/velvet. That way you get moody and NYC. Here's an eclectic option. But you can make this work! I did lavender and burgundy for my first wedding - with touches of lavender and pink (like the second photo).
