Color scheme...

Marissa, on June 3, 2019 at 9:41 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16
Just got a save the date in the mail from my fiancé’s friend and future spouse. Their color scheme is the exact same one I was liking lately 😬 their wedding is 6 months before ours. They’ll be invited to ours and I don’t want her to think I’ve “copied” her colors. Should I change mine? I’ve had several different ideas for colors and it wouldn’t crush me to change the one I currently like, but I do like it. Am I being crazy?

I wouldn’t! You’ve picked out everything you like I wouldn’t settle because someone else has similar tastes to you. My best friend got married before I was engaged and she knew what song I wanted to walk down the isle to and she decided to walk down the isle to that song BUT now that I’m engaged I have no plans to change my song even though it kinda looks like I’m copying her.

I wouldn’t if you really love those colors and doubt anyone would really notice or care, but if you have other color schemes you like and haven’t bought anything yet, then it seems easy enough to change it too.

They won’t care. Also just because they used colors for their save the date doesn’t mean they’re using them for the wedding.

Don't feel the need to change your colors! If you love your colors, stick with them Smiley smile

They don’t own the colors so you go right on ahead and use them lol. Maybe shoot a quick message and say wow great minds think a lot these are my exact same wedding colors just so she has a heads up. People get touchy about certain things especially when it comes to weddings but I’d say let that roll right off your back. Even if you did go to her wedding and “copy” the colors soooo what! They aren’t hers to keep. If it wouldn’t crush you to change them and you really think it would be a problem that you don’t necessarily want to deal with then I’d say maybe combine some other color with a few of the colors you initially picked.

One other thing to consider: wedding color schemes often become popular and lots of people use them, but their weddings still look different. There are ten thousand different people on this board using some variation of blush and burgundy, but their actual decor choices still look distinct! Same colors doesn’t mean matching weddings.

Right. From the STDs I figured they were her colors so I asked and she said yes. Should have mentioned that

If you aren't bothered by it, and won't be heartbroken to change it, then I'd probably just go ahead and change it. However, I've noticed there are a handful of extremely popular wedding color schemes right now that literally everyone is choosing (except me, lol)..so I don't think it'd be the worst if you did have the same. If you decide you really want to stick with your chosen scheme, maybe you can rearrange things differently than the way they do.

For example, say your scheme is burgundy, navy, and silver (and/or grey). If their bridesmaids are wearing burgundy and groomsmen are wearing navy (and use silver/grey as an accent color), then your bridesmaids can wear navy and your groomsmen can wear grey (and use burgundy as the accent color). And if their flowers are white with burgundy accents, then yours could be white with navy accents. Something like that. Subtle changes to where y'all have the same scheme, but arranged differently to where it doesn't look like you copied exactly what they do.

No need to change your colors! Do what you love and I'm sure that if she thinks you copied, she will be happy you like the same colors.

From what I looked at online, most companies all have the same colors at the same time. So don't stress, and don't change what you like!!

Mmmm tough, I think as long as the bridesmaid dress colors are different then it won't really matter too much. But I personally wouldn't want the same BM colors, or the same exact flower choices.
