color scheme - is there an app for that? (or site)

Serafina, on December 3, 2014 at 10:55 AM Posted in Planning 1 10

I'm having a mixed gender wedding party, and trying to figure out a good color scheme. I had something in mind but now the venue I think I'm going to end up with has its own prominent color scheme that doesn't go at all with the colors I chose, so now I have to start over. But in any case, I've been trying to find some kind of website or app where you can pick colors for the various people in the wedding party and see how they all fit together, and you can change the colors of the ties or dresses or vests, etc. I know mens warehouse has that with a single groomsman outfit, but trying to find a site where I play around with the colors and outfits of the whole wedding party at once. Makes sense? Thanks!

I know David's Bridal used to have a "dress your wedding" portion on their website where you could play around with colors and styles for the bridal party. I don't know if they still have it since it has been years since I last used it.

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but this is a helpful website for figuring out good schemes based on a color or two

Color schemer app is awesome! You can browse pre-existing color palettes or create them on your own or by picking colors off of a favorite photo or something.

So Christina, the dress your wedding is what I'm looking for but I can't find it on David's Bridal website. Does anyone know if it's still there or if I can find something like that somewhere? I've gone on Perfect Palette and other similar sites, but I just want to actually see how everything will look on people, especially because it's mixed gender and I want to mix and match a number of colors.

What colors are you looking at? If you want to see it on people, I would suggest Googling "_____ _____ and _____ wedding colors" kind of thing. I'm having a mixed gender party and having a mint and navy (pops of coral) palette and was able to find some things on Google.

Yeah I tried googling but it's not totally helpful. My original colors were light sage and burgandy (I wanted shades of red and green but didn't want it to look too christmas-y), and I was going to have all of his groomspeople wear burgandy dresses and burgandy ties, and my side would have the same but with a light sage. It works in a neutral, light venue, but now we are probably getting this place that is dark and has this midnight blue and gold scheme, so it's hard to stick with a shade of green and a shade of red over that. It's easier if everyone in the wedding party just has the same color dress/tie but I really wanted separate colors for my side and his. And I wanted to stick with green/red. I found "sapphire ruby emerald" wedding colors, but I am afraid it would look too christmasy to have those shades of red and emerald. I may end up with turquoise for my side and burgandy for his, but turquoise is his least favorite color, and I was going to have my shoes be the color of the bridesmaids dresses, and I didn't want turquoise shoes, prefer green instead.

Hmmmm maybe number 1 could work (though mine is late summer wedding but whatever): http://www.onewed.com/design/blog/gorgeous-wedding-color-palettes-for-autumn

Attached are the colors of the venue (which I don't like but I otherwise like the venue).

You can also get ideas on pinterest. Just type in sage and burgundy wedding colors.
