Color Crisis

Mandee, on February 17, 2020 at 7:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hey ya'll,

I thought I settled on my colors three months ago (dark teal bridesmaids dresses, steel grey groomsmen suits, and a dusky blue for accent color) but now I'm having second thoughts. The venue itself is a peach barn and most of the decor is peach colored (decor is included in the venue price) and I am having a nightmare of a time thinking if my colors are going to clash! I'm at the stage where I need to order my bridesmaids dresses and finalize the suit colors, but I want to be sure my color scheme is THE ONE!

How did you ladies decide on your colors? Did you change them to suit the venue?

Blues and peach are really pretty together. Depending on the exact tones, perhaps you can use softer peach-colored flowers in bouquets and centerpieces to help tie everything together. Don't overthink it! Complementary contrasting/accent colors are lovely and will add interest to photos with the various shades of blue. Smiley heart

PS a recommendation I read on this forum is to go to Home Depot or another store that has a big display of paint chips, and choose those closest to the scheme you're considering and look at them together. It will help you visualize how the various hues will look together, and you can also play with different options if you think you need to add something to soften the overall look. For example, if the shades of blues and peach all seem a bit too bold, how do they look if you accent with ivory? Or, a soft sage green? (Both of which could easily be used in your floral arrangements....) Or, maybe a pale gold or champagne? Those choices can then help you in selecting linens, flowers, candles, etc. Good luck!

I could be wrong about this and I understand why you are worried but anytime I have been to wedding I have never worried about the color scheme. I sincerely doubt your guests are going to really notice. They are there to celebrate your marriage and have a good time at the reception. I have judged a bad reception but never the colors scheme.

Even as a background color And not something that’s very prominent it’ll flow well.

I would stick with your colors, the peach mixed in looks good. There's lots of Pinterest ideas to include peach and teal if you want.

I think teals/blues look great with peach! We are doing Tiffany Blue, Greys and accents of lavender in our flowers. I was torn been the peach and lavender, but I'm not really a pink person. Good luck!
