Color coordinated Officiant suit.

He doesn't need to coordinate his attire with anyone else's, he can wear whatever color suit he wants. You only get to decide the colors that the wedding party wears.

We told FH cousin who is officiating our wedding that he can wear whatever suit he wants (within reason, of course), he doesn’t have to match the bridal party. We are providing him a burgundy tie though so he is included with members of the wedding! He told FH he may just get the same suit as everyone else anyways since it will be fairly inexpensive. I just asked that he not wear his custom purple tux jacket he had custom made for his own wedding last year lol. That would not coordinate well 😂

I think it depends if it flows or not. We are using my fh childhood bishop and he has robes of all colors so itll be easier to match. Maybe let him stay black and maybe buy a tie if you insist on matchy matchy

My MIL is our officiant. I didn’t tell her what exact dress to wear. She asked me multiple times and I eventually told her the wedding colors or any other neutral except white. Then she picked a bright rainbow dress lol. Our wedding colors are very neutral so I vetoed it. I see nothing wrong at all with requesting a neutral or coordinating color. It’s what I would expect a professional officiant to wear as well.
