College while wedding planning?

Futuremrsm, on August 26, 2019 at 7:26 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
Anyone else in school while wedding planning? I'm working full time, going to school full time, and trying to plan a wedding, ALL AT ONCE! I am very stressed to say the least lol

I am too! Work full time, home ownership, trying to get my degree in Robotics and AI, plus all the regular day-to-day stuff...

But, I will say we intentionally made our date for after I graduate. So not only will I have at least 3 months between school ending and the date, I also have over two years to get everything done.

I totally agree with it being stressfull, though. Major props to you for doing it all!

I was working full time and in school full time when we first got engaged in 2017. I just graduated this May but made sure I only had two courses for my final semester since I knew things would start getting crazy with planning. We had quite the lull in between booking the venue and major vendors until about April/May of this year so it definitely is doable. I tried to get school work done at work if I had some downtime and then saved the wedding planning for home with my FH!

It is stressful but it is so worth it! Best of luck!

I did that for my first wedding--full-time work, almost full-time law school (it took me 3.5 years, when full-time was 3), and on law review. We kept the wedding simple, I told my FI that he was going to need to do at least half the planning, and I accepted whatever other help was needed. (Mother-in-law volunteered to choose and pay for flowers, for example, and I happily said yes, even though it meant I had no idea what my flowers would look like until I showed up for the wedding.)

Your career is way more important than one day. Just don't try to take on the entire burden of planning by yourself, and keep things as simple as you can. (Now is not the time for elaborate DIY projects, for example.)

I was in grad school full time, working multiple part time jobs, and studying for my licensing exam while planning. It’s doable!

Grad school, TA-ing, wedding planning. It's stressful! But we can do anything!
