Collecting Email Addresses for 2021 celebration...

Christina, on May 24, 2020 at 4:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

You ladies always give such good advice. I come here often and once again I need some help:

Some context: So ya know wedding reception is postponed because of the virus. Me and my FH will do a small ceremony backyard style under ten people. I’m very excited for the new plan and I plan on using zoom for my guest to see ceremony. Me and my FH have a date for our 2021 reception BUT I am not sending out the new date until January 2021. I want to see where the world is by then. New date is July 2021 as of right now.
So my question is: I wanted to send out advice and well wishes for my guest to send back to me for me and hubby to read on our wedding night. I thought it was a nice gesture. In addition I was also going to have my guest send back their email addresses...
My thinking is for my new save the date and reception in 2021 I will do a evite or paperless post type of deal to invite others. I’ve spent so much money on paper to have it thrown away for my big day. I literally threw away 200 invitations and I just don’t don’t know if I want to stress buying more stamps and sending off more save the dates and invitations when right now I’m sending out postponement announcements and zoom information.
I guess I just don’t want to be tacky... or viewed as tacky... I want to be viewed as creative or innovative for doing something different but I don’t know if it will come off that way. Asking for some honest advice!

I think, given the situation, that this makes a lot of sense - to change everything over to digital. However, this is heavily dependent on your crowd - do you have a lot of elderly people who might not be all that versed in evites? If not, or if they have someone to help them, then *absolutely* switch. Save money, save paper, and keep people up-to-date in the weird world we live in!

As for the well wishes - is there a way you can have your BP contact your guests and ask them to send a word in lieu of what would have been the day? I think it would be better if someone else collected the messages.

I think this is a great idea if your crowd is email-savvy. My grandparents are great with technology, so this would work for me, but if your guest list isn't very technologically inclined, it may not work.

I also love the well wishes idea for you to read on your wedding night - that's so sweet!

That’s a great idea I didn’t think I’d asking my BP. My older guest have surprised me in Quarantine with how tech savvy they are ! I think I would maybe print 10 invites for my guest who don’t own a computer but other then that everyone is very equipped to do online invites thank you !
