Cold weather undergarments?

Diana, on September 16, 2021 at 2:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

When I bought my wedding dress, I originally thought I'd be getting married in warmer weather. Instead, my wedding is in upstate NY in early November. I've purchased a faux fur stole and velvet opera-length gloves to cover my bare back and sleeveless arms, but I'm a little puzzled by what to do for hosiery.

Does anyone have any recommendations for bridal-appropriate leg undergarments? My dress is full length, so they won't be visible (but I still want them to be nice looking and bridal appropriate). Also, the back of my dress is pretty low and I'm worried about the waistband of undergarments coming up too high.

I do! I was in the opposite boat - expected to be getting married in spring, where it can get quite cool, have had to postpone to summer.

Before we postponed, I bought these wolford lace stay up stockings with contrasting tops. They're a luxury brand, so quite expensive, but I figured if I might need stockings on my wedding day, I wanted them to be pretty. They don't have a waistband, so no worry about being seen from the back.

I frequently will do leggings under long dresses in cooler weather not sure if those will work for you but its worth a try.

Is any portion of your day outside? If you won’t be outside for long I wouldn’t worry about it. I got married in January and was worried about needing leggings and I was fine. It was cold but not freezing (although it did snow a bit after we got home from the reception)

Are you sure you will be cold while being indoors? With a ton of bodies in the room and heaters on, you won’t need extra warmth. And you may potentially overheat. Many brides say their dresses are hot enough without leggings underneath due to the heavy fabric regardless of the time of year.

I'm pretty much always cold (I'm wrapped in a blanket right now and it's 74 degrees inside and I had soup for dinner). So, yeah, pretty sure. Smiley ups

We're doing photos outside along the river, so I might wear something extra for that and then take it off for the reception.
