Coin bridal shower

Has anyone ever had a coin bridal shower? If so what did the guests think of it and how did you let them know what it was? I really want to do one instead of a regular bridal shower because my fiance and I really don't need any items.

I say go for it. It's 2018. I don't want to shop for you I want to celebrate your love and you can shop for yourself. Cash gifts are so much better to give anyways. Go for it and let us know how it went!

Asking for money in lieu of a gift is rude. Having a registry is rude. Family members hosting a shower is rude. In short, celebrations that mark significant life events (wedding, baby, notable anniversaries and birthdays) are diminished by turning them into occasions to raise money or collect material goods.
