Coffee/hot Chocolate/ Tea favors

Tiffany, on February 11, 2020 at 3:05 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 18
Our wedding is a morning wedding so we thought little bags of coffee, hot chocolate and tea would be cute favors! We are 2 months out from our date.

I have some little bags purchased already!
I was wondering if it's better to go with whole bean coffee or ground coffee? I'm actually not a coffee drinker myself haha so I'm naive in the ways of coffee. I was also wondering if 2 months is too early to start putting all the bags together? Will it go stale?I also need to decide if I'm doing tea bags or loose leaf tea.

I don't drink either of them but from most of the coffee favors I've seen, it's been whole bean. As far as tea, I would personally most likely go with tea bags. I'm not sure if it would go stale but I would probably do it a little closer to the date. A week at the latest, depending on how many people you're doing it for.

It might be a little bit early to do them just yet. they don't really go stale, but they lose some of their flavor and aroma if they're not kept sealed. It's classier to do whole bean coffee or loose leaf tea, even though it's more convenient for your guests to have ground coffee or tea bags lol

That makes sense. I'll have to ask my dad and my coffee drinking bridesmaids for their opinions as well! I'm just so excited to get them done! favor bags were my very first wedding purchase back in August. I suppose one more month won't kill me. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah you're probably right on all points! I should wait until next month. I'm just excited. We invited about 173, that number includes children, and RSVPS aren't due until 3/14 so we don't have a final number yet. I actually only have 150 favor bags, so I need to see if I'll have to order more

Could you do a mix of both?

Of beans and ground? Hmm I suppose I could. I didn't think of that

If it's not too much work? It might make more people take them. Like we only buy ground, not beans. So if we saw beans & tea at a wedding, we wouldn't take either (we don't drink tea). It just depends on your crowd!

I would get ground coffee but the beans do seem more common and cuter

Definitely best bet! I would wait until final head count. No need to do extra work if you don't have to.

I'd say most people don't own a coffee grinder so ground is probably better. Or a mix of both as PP suggested.

So I typically think favors are a waste, but as a crazy coffee & hot tea drinker, I LOVE this idea!
If doing coffee, it will make it easier on your guests to do ground coffee. 2 months is a little early for coffee or tea. I’d wait closer to 1 month, or 3 weeks if you can. If you do loose tea, just make sure it’s sealed well so the leaves don’t dry up.

Hey there! We're also having a morning wedding and are doing a similar favor assortment. I agree with the other folks to do a mix of ground and whole coffee (probably less whole than ground) just because more might not have a grinder. Although I like the look and idea of loose leaf tea, it will probably be easier and more cost efficient to do an assortment of tea bags with little honey sticks or something only because you'd then have to assume who has a team strainer/brewer.

We're planning on partnering with a local coffee shop to aupport/promote local business, so they'll be doing a mix for us of both fall (october wedding) flavored coffee/tea/cider and traditional.

I think it's a cute idea!! I would do ground coffee and if the tea is loose, make sure to provide a bag to seep it in. I would wait a little bit before doing them so they don't go stale.

I was actually just thinking about doing something like this for our favors, too, since our wedding starts at 11:00 am.

Adding a bag with the tea is a good idea! Thanks for sharing. Our ceremony starts at 11am too! We are doing a full on breakfast buffet with a pancake station for the reception. We are super excited about it

Partnering with a local place is smart! I've thought about trying to find ones there probably are a few I could check out. I'm just starting to run out of steam and money, so I may just end up grabbing some bags of coffee from dunkin donuts or Starbucks and call it good.

As an avid coffee drinker lol I would lean more towards ground coffee. But like someone said 2 months early might be a bit early. Even though it wouldn't go stale, it wouldn't be super fresh. And some of the flavor could be lost. I can't say much on tea though, sorry. I love this idea though!!
