Coffee, Cider, & Hot Chocolate

Samantha, on March 15, 2017 at 10:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

So I'm trying to decide what to serve at the reception/ before the ceremony. Would you all rather have coffee, cider, or hot chocolate? We're doing beer/wine, tea, and water anyway so should we forgo the others or would you as a guest like one of the above too? I'm trying to get an idea for the caterers before I make a decision on who to go with.

Thanks!

It's always a good idea to have coffee and tea served with dessert. The cider and hot cocoa are a nice touch if you want to add them but not necessary.

I love hot cider! don't think you could go wrong with any of them, they're all delicious and perfect for your December date. I would at least have coffee

Definitely yes to the coffee to be served with dessert. If you're wanting another option to go with the coffee, I vote hot chocolate.

I looove cider. I also don't like coffee, but a lot of people will be expecting it.

For a December wedding, I love the idea of offering hot beverages. Coffee is probably the most widely popular. If you're able to to a hot beverage station, offering hot chocolate, cider, hot tea, and maybe even chai lattes would be a great touch.

I'm having all 3 for my December wedding. Do you have to choose just one?

I love hot chocolate! But coffee is probably a more inclusive choice. (I know inclusive is the wrong word but I don't know that the right one is).

Coffee? That reminds me of something I'd see at the office/at a consult/or at an Anonymous meeting. So, no, coffee wouldn't be something I'd be thrilled to see at a pre-wedding ceremony. I'd expect to see something adult -- something festive, not something most of us drink every morning to get our feet moving towards the office. Actually, I'd expect it to be served near the end of your reception -- as in, the time frame at the end of a dinner.

Cider? Hot chocolate? Okay, but if it's costing you more, I'd skip the hot chocolate and go with cider or wine/beer -- at both ends of the wedding. Coffee? Sure, that's to be expected at any wedding, and it's usually served after dinner and with cake. So, coffee shouldn't even be an optional beverage -- it should just be.

Earias- No we don't have to choose just one. I know some of my guests can't have chocolate (health reasons) and some don't drink coffee so I was trying to included as many warm drinks as possible.

Rachel- Would hot chocolate/ red wine hot chocolate and cider be better to serve while guest wait for the ceremony to start?

Coffee might perk up guests Smiley tongue

ETA that I agree with Angel's comment below mine. Hot chocolate makes me feel extremely full, so I typically leave it for the kids.

I think coffee might be a good option. Having a December wedding cider is kinda out of season. Hot chocolate is a cute idea for the time of year but I feel like only the kids would really drink it. So many drink coffee and having something warm on a cold day is always a plus. Good luck

We are having a hot chocolate bar when we serve the cake. Having coffee and hot tea may be good for dinner and afterwards also.

I had a hot chocolate bar (I think coffee and tea were also available) in my cocktail hour and it was the hit of the wedding.
