Coffee bar

Elizabeth, on May 29, 2018 at 1:58 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 25
We are having a coffee bar after cake cutting but know some people might enjoy as the night goes on. Would it be better to have a couple small keurigs and k cups available or the 2 60 quart coffee makers for regular and decaf?

I'm not a lover of Kuerigs. It's a quick cup of coffee but not a very good one. The FH is an actual coffee expert! We're serving cold brew at our engagement party. We'll make a large batch and do self serve from a 1.5 gallon glass drink dispenser, offering different sweeteners, creams and flavoring.
While he's already well versed in this, you can make cold brew yourself without any special training (the latte art he does, not so much) and relatively little equipment. That's my suggestion.

We are just having two dispensers, one decaf and one regular! I think Keurigs take too long, and some people may not know how to use them.

A coffee bar is awesome. I think the Keurig may take too long as guests anxiously wait in line (unless you have two of them?). Or you could offer both options.

I'm not sure what happened but at our local reception but coffee was never served. It was a chilly night and we drank a lot of wine (winery) so it would have been nice! If we had the budget, totally would have done a coffee bar because they're so cute and useful. A few inspiration pics...

I think the normal dispensers would be best. If you can add a fun flavored coffee such as Pecan, Hazelnut, Vanilla, etc I think your guest would enjoy that. As well as adding a variety of different creamers to use.

I am definitely going to do the creamers and different sugar options but I never thought about the different coffee flavors we'll have to find some good samples to try

Lots of inspiration photos on Pinterest & Google. If you're doing DIY decor, this doesn't look too hard to make cute (and delicious). Food or dessert stations are nice because it gets people up and mingling/moving. The most awkward weddings I've been to were very fancy formal sit-down dinners. Even a coffee bar can help stir-up the energy.

Yes I'm going to DIY as much as possible I have been looking on Pinterest for the dessert ideas because FH finally won and we're having a plated dinner so I do want people mingling just not in their seats all night or until the dance floor opens

The Keurig will constantly be running out of water. I would go with the regular canisters.

We did something similar. We had a sit-down salad course and dinner course. Although we included 1 bottle of white + 1 bottle red wine on each table, we had an open bar with several wine and beer options which helped people get up and move around.

Our venue included dessert so we chose dessert shots on a separate table instead of served. We saved money by only getting a small professional cake for a cutting ceremony. My advice is don't spend a ton on dessert. Some people don't eat any. We still had shots left over but ok because included in dinner price.

Our dessert table was pretty simple. Figured as long as we had one pic of table and one of us cutting cake, that's all we'd need. DH was in charge of our local reception and prioritized entertainment.

So far the plan is to get a small cake to cut a sheet cake for the caterer to cut for guests and some cookies and brownies they will be our favors with little bags stamped by us but I will keep moderation in mind

We're doing the dispensers because the venue will keep tabs on that for me. Im also planning on getting some flavor syrups, whipped cream, cinnamon and cocoa to sprinkle on top, etc.

I would definitely go with dispensers over Keurig. Keurigs are convenient at home, but for a wedding it would be costly, slow, and wasteful.
