At my moms wedding the DJ played instrumentals of love songs and it was perfect for the people having conversations

We are having our string trio from the ceremony playing at our cocktail hour. We had the option to add the DJ instead, but opted not to. The trio was about the same price for the same type of music the DJ would play which was recommended as an instrumental of jazz or classical for our event.

My DJ described cocktail music as "drink stirrers" and something you could sway to or nod your head to. Something to get them ready to have a good time later in the evening. I added songs to my list that I really like and are fun to listen to, but wouldn't qualify as "dance" music later in the evening. Some examples : "How Far is Heaven" , "Dancing in the moonlight" and "Build Me Up Buttercup".

Live music is so fun! I wish this had been in my budget. Nice you get to keep them through the cocktail hour!

Nothing too loud or boisterous. We have a ukulele player coming for our cocktail hour. He is playing beachy-happy hour music.

If you hire a DJ they will know what to play during cocktail hour. We didn’t even have to give a list for that because he knew what to do. Something that is fairly low key and not too loud.

We are doing jazz and some slower love songs that are just nice and quiet for background music. The point of cocktail music is just to not have silence in the back and just give it a good mood. Usually your dj already has some ideas but if there is a song or two that you want played let them know.

I'm doing oldies: Paul Anka, Patsy Cline, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, Elvis, etc. Nothing past 1977
