Cocktail hour entertainment

Hailey, on March 7, 2020 at 8:40 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
Hi! My wedding is in Feburary of 2021 and am looking at booking someone to provide entertainment during cocktail hour since FH and I are not doing first look so we will need all the picture time we can get. I was thinking of hiring a magican/illusionist. Has anyone done this specifically/been to a wedding that has or is anyone providing entertainment?

How long do you expect the cocktail hour to be? I honestly feel like most people get antsy to get to the reception after an hour. You could push it to 90 minutes reasonably, I think. But more than that I think you’re just keeping people too long, regardless of if you provide entertainment for them

Cocktails and appetizers are my entertainment.

We are having our DJ play relaxing/romantic music during our cocktail hour. Most of our guests are pretty outgoing and talkative so I’m sure they won’t have a problem mingling with one another for an hourish. I personally wouldn’t hire extra entertainment, it’s kind of expected at a wedding that there may be cocktail hour

I went to one with a magician and LOVED it. In fact that’s what I wanted to do for mine aha but decided against it since people would be able to mingle amongst themselves and I was already over budget

During cocktail hours, I prefer to munch on appetizers, drink drinks, and socialize with other guests. I’m not really interested in “entertainment” at a wedding besides a photo booth.

As we are doing a “Harry Potter” themed wedding o have hired a mother/daughter “Divination” team for the 2 hour cocktail event before the reception.

We are not doing first looks and FH wants to be at the cocktail hr he’s paying for- so it’s now 2hrs! Lol.....
He doesn’t know we have the ladies but they will be reading feathers( daughter and a nod to my Native American heritage) and palmistry/tarot( mother).

I am having my cousin's band play during cocktail hour. It is just her and her husband who are invited guests anyways so it wont add to my head count.

*They offered to play I didn't ask them to, They really wanted to*
