Cocktail Hour Apps

Rachel, on October 9, 2019 at 9:15 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
So, we are wanting to keep it simple for cocktail hour appetizers. We will be expecting around 160 guests and the cocktail hour will be right at an hour long. The question is, how much do you buy?

Our meal will be BBQ and our theme is more rustic so I didn’t want to get extravagant with the types of appetizers. Below is what I am thinking of serving:- Platter with either a cheeseball or pimento cheese, sliced cheese, pepperoni, sweet pickles, and assorted crackers.
- Chips and dip or chips and salsa
- Sliced apples and caramel dip

That sounds like enough apps to me. The only thing I might consider adding is something hot since all of the options listed are cold.

That sounds like more than enough! We are doing assorted cheeses, crackers and fruit for ours!

That sounds like enough, as long as there are several platters so 160 people don't have to all go to the same platter.

I had thought about hot, but since we are doing it ourselves I wanted to keep it simple for myself! I think we’ll be able to bring it during rehearsal and load up the fridge at the venue!

That would be my next question. How much to buy of each? We’ve got a Sam’s Club membership so that will help with the bulk purchases at least!

I'd plan on 3-5 bites per person so it would depend how much cheese & meat went on each tray. We've done charcuterie for appetizers before and I think I read 2 ounces of cheese per person?
