Clumsy bride

We are doing a bridal party line dance, and I'm
worried about busting my stuff on the dance floor. Attached is the photo of my dress. It doesn't have a bustle option, so I'd have to get that put in on my own expense. Any advice on how to make sure I dont fall/trip/etc? We know the whole line dance, but I obviously haven't danced in the dress.

A bustle is going to be a necessity even without a line dance

The train is awesome and seems long enough to hold. Maybe some flats for the reception because I can be clumsy too and I could see my heel getting caught in the dress or something.

I would definitely recommend working with a seamstress on a bustle, even without the line dance. Without a way to hold it up and out of the way, your train is going to be stepped on and get tangled around your feet. The tulle layers will possibly tear when they get stepped on. Minimally, you'll need to put the loop that was probably attached under the train by the manufacturer over your wrist and carry the weight of the train around for all the time after the ceremony. It will likely get very heavy over the course of the reception. If you're not super picky about how it's done, a simple "over bustle" should involve sewing some buttons on the back of the skirt near the waist and attaching some heavy thread loops on the lower part of the back of the dress to hook onto the buttons. If nothing else, watch some youtube videos, and with the help of a couple friends you can make the necessary adjustments for the bustle yourself, if professional alterations aren't a possibility. (FWIW daughter's bustle, done at what we thought was her fairly expensive bridal salon, was about $150 for a 3-point over bustle for the tulle and lace layers and a 3-point under bustle for the lining layers.) Good luck!

I didn’t have a bustle and although my dress wasn’t overly long it was still long so I just ended up holding up dress up with a hand while walking around

Adding a bustle is a must in a wedding dress. They are inexpensive and worth it!

I'd say 100% get your dress bustled! Make sure it's done by someone who knows what they're doing, even if they cost a little extra. One of my friends got her dress bustled for her wedding by someone who normally does not bustle dresses and it kept falling during her reception. I swear I had to fix her bustle at least 15 times during the reception. I'd also suggest the person who will be putting your dress up in the bustle on your wedding day go with you to your bustling appointments. That way they can be shown how to properly bustle the dress.

I had my dress bustled by a friend of my SIL's and she did an amazing job! My SIL went to both appointments with me; the first one when we decided how I wanted my dress bustled and the second one when I tried my dress on after she put the bustle hooks in and she showed my SIL how to properly do it. My train was also very long but the way she bustled it was perfect and I didn't have any issues all night!
