Has anyone considered closing and or locking the doors to the venue a few minutes before their ceremony starts to keep stragglers from interrupting the ceremony? I think it is extremely rude for people to walk in at the last second or even during the ceremony. My only problem is deciding on how long before the ceremony should I do it? 5-10 minutes before it starts? 5-10 minutes after starting time? No one will be locked in or can't get out if there is an emergency , just to keep stragglers from interrupting.

I'd just start my ceremony 5 to 10 min after it says it is suppose to, you can close the doors then. 10 min before is way too early.

Our boat will set sail promptly at 5:00 which is also the start of the ceremony. If they aren’t there in time they will just have to wave from shore... lol

Definitely will ask my wedding planner to close and secure the doors after I enter. It's extremely rude to walk in the middle of the ceremony, especially if there will be cinematography. We recently went to a wedding and about 10ppl arrived in the middle of the ceremony and vow exchanges. Awkward!

We went to a wedding out of town, in an unfamiliar city years ago. Google maps said the venu was something like 11 minutes away. We got a cab to half an hour before the wedding. The driver told us that we most likely were not going to make it there on time as it was much farther than Google maps said (this was in its infancy). We ended up being a few minutes late, but the wedding also started late. I did my due diligence. We tried. We were late for reasons outside our control. I despise people being late. It is my huge pet peeve, but sometimes it cannot be helped.

Obviously that was venue. Not venu.

We are letting people know the ceremony will start at 11am sharp as we only have the site from 10:30 to 11:30 so we gotta get cracking! If they are late.....oh well.

We started our ceremony at 5:10 instead of 5 on invitations because like 20 people weren’t there yet and it was obvious so we waited a few more minutes and they all pretty much showed up at 5pm on the dot. So in that sense I’m glad we started it a few minutes later because I didn’t want to shut the doors at 5 exactly. The DOC shut the doors at 5:15 but no one else came late.

Yup! One of my friends from college let them in because our DOC was too busy self serving out of our alcohol 🙄

I think you should do it to keep people from coming in and trying to take your gifts and cards if they are out of site where you can not keep an eye on them doing your ceremony

We are doing this after the processional. We have valet and a pre ceremony cocktail hour, Ive done everything I can to try and help our guests be on time for the ceremony. Once the DOC sees that valet is clear the doors will close and she will guard them with the security team.
