Clip in vs tape in hair extensions

Kathleen , on March 15, 2017 at 8:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

While I definitely have the length for the hairstyle I want, the volume is ZERO. I'm fairly certain I want extensions for the wedding, but I can't decide which kind. I've heard that clip in extensions are less expensive and less damaging to your hair, but my hair is quite thin and with a half-up/half-down style I'm worried about them falling out on the dancefloor. For anyone who has tried one of these methods, how was your experience? Pros/cons? Thanks!

I have tape ins that I wear. They are expensive to purchase and the upkeep is expensive as well. There is maintenance to them and they weigh a lot.

Clip ins are great for one time use event.

Have you looked into a loop extensions ? They cost about $ 70 . They have a fine clear hairband they look great and don't have to worry about the clips falling out.

I get the sew ins they braid your hair and sew the hair onto the braid. That way I don't have to worry about then falling out

I am planning on using clip ins...per my hairdresser. For every so often use or even just the one time use I hear they are great and easy to use.

I'm curious to see the feedback you get.

Thanks for your responses! I've never heard of loop extensions, they seem like a better option than clip in.

I'm thinking about getting clip ins as well. My hair is thin and has no volume and I plan on wearing it down which means I NEED some help getting the volume. Does anyone have suggestions on what brand of clip ins are best? I was thinking of buying them at sally beauty supply.

I got tape ins and I can't not even tell you how impressed I am. I get compliments all the time and I LOVE them. But Helena is right, they are expensive and the upkeep is as well

I wore clip ins every day for two years. I have thin fine hair. If you are getting your hair done professionally you shouldn't have to to worry about them showing. The hairstylist should know how to camouflage them. If you're doing it yourself you should definitely practice!!! It takes time to learn to hide them perfectly. No matter what you get keep in mind that it's not very comfortable. If you put in a decent amount of hair it will add weight and can cause headaches. I recommend wearing them before the wedding to get used to it. Check out the loop expansions. I haven't tried them but they look like they would be good. But go to a professional because if you don't know what you're doing you will end up with it looking very obvious that you have fake hair in.

I am going with clip in extensions for the wedding because I want to wear my hair down and I lack volume. My hairstylist recommended Bellami clip ins. She is on a bridal hair/makeup team and they all recommend Bellami. We haven't ordered mine yet because we are still working on getting my hair color that right lift and tone that I want for the wedding but once we do we'll decide which color matches best to order. I want to have them for any bridal showers I may have, for the rehearsal and such. And of course after that I will keep them for whenever I want a little more glamour!
