Clip in hair extensions?

Marti, on March 25, 2011 at 10:10 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 18

Has anyone used clip in hair extensions? What was/is your opinion of them?

I have VERY fine shoulder length hair. My last two hair trials were complete disasters because my hair won't do anything that looks nice or doesn't look too "high school-ish". I was considering buying clip-in hair extensions (there is no way I can afford professional hair extensions right now) to give my hair some more volume and to give my hair stylist something to work with. Has anyone used clip-in hair extensions? What were the pros and cons of using them? Any recommendations? I am looking to (hopefully) stay under $100.

Thanks in advance for your help!

This is a good option for you to add volume (and length if you want) Ask your stylist if they have experience w/ them first. I recomend going with NATURAL hair. You can get them at Sallys and purchase just the wefts, and the clips, thread all seperatley and securely sew them all together (this is the Cheapest way to get what you want. but inclueds a DIY portion)

This hair comes in several lengths and colors. Purchase the one closest to your hair color and get the length longer than you want (so it can be trimmed *looks a little ratty at bottoms usually) If you color your hair, bring it with to have them colored together for a perfect match.

There are You tube tutorials for how to sew the clips on and also how to put them in secrurely (at where to place) for a natural look.

If you are planning on wearing your hair up, a cheaper option is to purchase a "filler" hair piece, ones that are precurled and in your color can be secured beneath the up~do your stylst is planning. And covered

With your natural hair so no one will know the difference. Do you have an idea of how you want to wear it?

I am getting the same ones my friend got for her wedding. For the longest length they have them at Sally's for $100. I forget the name brand but they are real hair and come in a red box. They work great.

Oh and her stylist said that if you are getting them and having to dye them, get them lighter because it is easier to dye darker than to dye lighter.

Here is a picture of me wearing some. Its easier to wear them w/ curls because it will diffuse the way the light hits it making it harder to tell which is yours and which is not. Also having layers in your hair is easier for blending them in.

and a pic of me w/ out any.

My step daughter wore the clip ins for her wedding and they looked great. I'm not to sure where she bought them but she did speak extensively with her stylist to make sure they were good about putting them in and skilled with how to do them.

    Hi,

I wore clip ins. I got the longest you can get for around 80 bucks plus tax in LA. My husband freaked out when I took them out when we got to the hotel after the wedding... he didn't even realize I was wearing extensions Smiley smile So I guess they looked pretty real.

Here's a link of some pictures from the wedding so you can (hopefully) kinda see what they looked like.

Good luck ... I was really happy with the way mine turned out. (and yea.. i think someone already said it but curls make them blend better).

Thank you so much Smiley smile we had a blast...

The place where I got them from: (recommended by a good friend and hairstylist who gets extensions for her clients there all the time!)

    http://www.hisandher.com/default.aspx

I got 100% human hair, between 14-18 inches, three layered clip ins. My hair was parted on the back of my head from ear to ear and the extension were put in. ...and they stayed put all day. Smiley smile They were super easy to super use (my sis-in-law is a hair stylist and did all the work)...

    Hope that helps Smiley smile

    Marti-

I have the same exact problem!

Everytime I've gone to the hair salon to get an updo done

they hair stylist have a hard time with my hair since its so thin and i can never get the hair styles i want with my hair, so for my wedding i have decided that i must get the clip on hair extensions, my friend just bought some from Sallys and they look great!

Definitley go to a Sallys and see what you can get, your hair sylist can also cut them and dye them to match your hair.

I am in the same boat since so much hair has fallen out! So I am looking at clip in's as well but also don't know what I'm looking for. I've been looking at these. Could someone tell me if this is a good deal or what you think from this link. Marti you might be able to order some from this link.

They are a good option if your stylist knows what she is doing. If your hair is EXTREMELY fine, then i would not trust them if your hair is down. If it is up it will give the extra hold and support. You can get clip ins at sally beauty supply for about $75. If you are considering professional fusion hair extensions that last 3-6 months i do them for $400 (most salons start at $1000)

Hello everyone! I got hair extensions for my wedding – I have shoulder length hair and the extensions went down to about the middle of my back, looked beautiful. Clip in hair extensions can be a great idea for any day like parties, night outs etc-etc. Well I will prefer remy hair extensions. They are 100% real human hair extensions, super soft and silky, gorgeously thick and tangle free. I brought my hair extensions last year from

http://www.remyforyou.com/ with Free Shipping and till now I have no problem with them at all. A full head set would add natural and glamorous length, volume and thickness to your own hair and would give you plenty to work with to create your perfect style for your wedding Smiley smile To check which length would be suitable, try measuring downwards from the top of your ear.

Here's the link of the chart :
