Clear wedding invitations

Cookjay, on October 25, 2017 at 12:59 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

Clear wedding invitations! It's almost like an acrylic card. I've never seen one in person, tho I have seen a "frosted" kind.

We were casually browsing through online wedding invitations and came across clear wedding suites! They look amazing. Super lux. FH is really considering it for our invites.

Has any one you ladies ordered them before? Or has seen them in person? If so, any tips and tricks? Or should I just avoid them or go for it?

The website that has it is called basicinvite.com. It states on the site that it is prone to finger marks and scratches. Will I need gloves when putting my Suites together?

I think gloves would probably be a good idea so it doesn't get finger smudges. They look nice though!

Don't wipe with glass cleaner if it's acrylic. An employee at a plastics fabrication shop told me anything with alcohol will make the acrylic look "foggy".

I saw those on my Facebook and I love them! Idk if I'll actually use them because of the smudging factor, but they are beautiful

I am personally not a fan because they are hard to read. Elegant for sure, but still kind of hard to read. If you are going to spend that kind of money I would opt for paper invitations and a calligrapher.

Costly to buy and costly to mail. I'd skip it. Firmly in "What can we sell them next?" territory.

Why don't you order a sample and see for yourself?

I considered these but the finger prints really threw me off. If they were smudge proof, I'd be all for it, but your guests will be getting these all smudgy and gross. So we went to normal paper invites, and I don't regret a thing!

Thank you for the feedback. I revisited the site and they do offer a "sample" to purchase.

Just for the other brides that are considering this, for the record, these are plastic and not acrylic! So shipping is about the same as paper. Also the price is about $200 for a 100pc! Not bad at all!

FH is really considering this as our invites, he's more into the unique things and I'm more of a simplicity girl. So this kind of meets half way! With that being said, I will order the sample and come back and post on here! Hopefully it helps out other brides and grooms! Wish me luck!

I received a clear invite once and found it super hard to read. It just wasn't my style. I'd go ahead and order a sample like you said so you can see before spending the money.

Yup - order the sample first and then decide! They are super unique, but I think they are too much work/stress due to smudging and not being able to read very easily.

I have a client who has them as business cards. They looked gross before I got it. I think they are sorta gimmicky, but not sure practical.

I actually ordered some samples of these and I wasn’t really a fan. It’s hard for people to read, even with white writing. I think either go full on acrylic or do something else.

Seems like it could be cool, but hard to read. Also seems like it would remind me of a overhead transparency. I would have to order a sample before I bought

My invites were $35 plus tax from staples. The option is very nice, however if you don't mess it up your guest might..it's up to you but I figured my guest is only going to read it and throw it away after they have the required information for the event.

I feel like I'd put a clear invite down on a countertop and lose it LOL

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but if I'm dropping that kind of $$ on invites, I'd rather they be nice letterpress cardstock that my guests can at the very least put on their fridges!

I think they're lovely! My FH wants these electronic invites he found at a Maker Faire which are SUPER COOL but $45 a pop. I mean, we can do it, but ouch.
